Public Service Announcement: One Piece is the best manga ever, it is the standard I compare everything else I read to. The fights are inventive and can actually have unexpected results, the main characters don't always win, and there is hardly ever a random, mid-fight power up like so many mangas use. The plot generally blows any other manga out of the water, as the arcs are well thought out and leave very few holes; stories or elements that were mentioned hundreds of chapters previously remain relevant, which is incredible for a manga over 700 chapters long as of now, and for what started as a child's manga One Piece tackles some rough topics, slavery, race issues, corruption, war, and does so in a way that can make you think while enjoying the story. The characters are incredible and well fleshed out, for the main crew that's expected but even the villains are often given actual backstories and reason's and each one remains diverse and unique with the Strawhats enemies ranging from pirates seeking superweapons, idiots with a god complex, corrupt government assassins, marines who genuinely want to help the world, marines who genuinely want to help the world and still seem evil as fuck, and perhaps the best end-game villain ever in Blackbeard. Blackbeard is essentially a realistic and like-able Aizen, where as Aizen claims to have planned everything in Bleach out and manipulated it to happen how he wanted after the fact, Blackbeard is actually shown doing so. He's introduced fairly early and you actually get to see him gather power, manipulate circumstances, and become one of the most powerful people in the world, yet it never seems hacked, he has a plan and he sticks to it, when the breaks don't go his way he adjusts his plans slightly and makes do, throw in the fact that he's actually kind of like-able and you get an amazing villain. One Piece will make you laugh, make you cry, make you think, and send chills up your spine, if you haven't read it then get online and find it and read it, the artwork isnt the best ever but it's worth it. Oh, and while the anime is good the manga is better, something about the pace in the 2nd half of the anime seems off.

There are two other series that I put on the same level as One Piece, those being FullMetal Alchemist and Tower of God. Both of these are incredible series, Tower of God is a Korena Webtoon that has one of the most amazing setting and characters, while also having a plot that rivals One Piece in it's complexity. FullMetal Alchemist, and it's anime version Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, are basically the Harry Potter of Japan, if Harry Potter hadn't had so many plotholes. It's one of the most perfectly written series in history and is widely regarded as the greatest Anime ever made.
