Author has written 7 stories for Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, Harry Potter, W.I.T.C.H., Grimm, Angel, and Supernatural. Current Quote: "It takes courage to see such terrible things happen and still get up every day and be able to see what is still beautiful." --Capheus (Episode 02, Season 02) Sense8 Name: raises an eyebrow Now why would I tell you that? Age: 29 Occupation: Counseling (and dabble with writing on the side) Favorite Genres: Magic and swashbuckling swordfights -- just low on the Romance and Horror, please Favorite anime: Digimon, DN Angel, Fullmetal Alchemist, One Piece (although after the Sabaody arc, it's horrible), Princess Tutu, RomeoxJuliet, Shaman King, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Favorite books: None, I like too many to ever pick just one. Although I tend to reread the Hero and the Crown over and over again for some inexplicable reason. Favorite games: Baldur's Gate, Detroit: Become Human, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and the Witcher Favorite movies: Aladdin, Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, Pirates of the Caribbean, Prince of Persia, Road to Eldorado, Star Wars (third's the best!), Tangled, and Van Hellsing Favorite musicals: High School Musical, the Newsies, Phantom of the Opera, and Sound of Music. Favorite tv shows: Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Grimm, Legend of the Seeker, Leverage, Lie to Me, Merlin, Musketeers, Stargate Atlantis, Terra Nova, Avatar: The Last Airbender, White Collar, and W.I.T.C.H. Favorite manga/graphic novels: DN Angel, Hikaru no Go, Rurouni Kenshin, Shaman King, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yu Yu Hakusho, and W.I.T.C.H. Things I hate in stories: 1. Instantaneous trust. I hate it. And I can't believe how often this happens in stories. I know there are people out there that just radiate trustworthiness, even to complete strangers, but I've never met one. A little reason or a little suspicion never hurts and goes a long way for a story. (Or maybe I'm just a cynic . . . .) 2. Stories in which nothing happens. Yeah, I know, that sounds counterintuitive. Stories are by definition a telling about a series of happenings. But unbelievably, I keep coming across stories that seem to have not gotten the memo that plots? Kind of important. Some are little more than transcriptions, and hello? Fanfiction is for fans, as in we already know the story. Don't need to reread it. Favorites include time travel stories ("Oh hey! There's the teenage version of Mom and Dad! Let's go say hi and make sure they don't break up."), series rewrites (What if Merlin was a girl? And still became Arthur's manservant?), and OC insertions (transcriptions I tell you, transcriptions!). 3. Odd couples. And no, I don't mean homosexual pairings. Slash is fine, but harems, incest, glaring age differences (Dumbledore/Harry stories, I'm looking at you), and my personal favorite, reincarnation pairings (especially in Yugioh stories). Reincarnations = same person. Uh, ew? Current Stories: Swiss Family Yu-Gi-Oh Summary: SPOILERS! The gang (Yugi, Yami, Isis, Malik, Yami Malik, Bakura, Yami Bakura, Téa, Seto, Mokuba, Duke, Tristan, Joey, Serenity, and Mai) set off on a cruise headed for the Bahamas (crossing the Pacific Ocean and going through the Panama Canal). They find a chest on the ship filled with 8 gold items with the Millennium Eye on them. A band of pirates headed by John Reed (a/n: pirates still exist if you didn't know) attack the kids and they end up on an island. They face the walking dead, Reed's Irish neice Iron Morgan Bonney, Shadi, Elemental powers, and love. (Yami/Isis, Seto/Téa, Joey/Mai) FINISHED Recommendation: Read at your own risk Digidestined Unite Summary: SPOILERS! It all starts out when Tai disappears, followed by Matt. Eventually the rest of the DDs are taken prisoner by Lucemon, Owikawa, Arukenimon, and Mummymon. Then, they head for the Frontier. A group (1 S01, 2 S02, 2 S04) escape to the Tamers. Escapes and captures, fights and crushes issue throughout the story. This idea came as a dream. Weird, I know.(Kari/Kouji, Rika/Kouichi, Yolei/Takuya, Jeri/Takato, Davis/Zoe) FINISHED Recommendation: Read at your own risk (don't get me wrong, I still enjoy skimming through this just ah . . . it was written a long time ago *coughs*) UPDATE: Digidestined Unite now has a sequel! Behold Finding the GoggleHeads, written by HowlingDomain. Although I do not have access to the plotline or any other data, Finding the GoggleHeads takes place one year after the events of Digidestined Unite and, thus far, follows the same vein as the first story. I am enjoying each new installment and I would highly recommend it to any old readers (and new ones) who enjoyed Digidestined Unite. Behind the Mask Summary: Eighteen year old Harry Potter hoped that after the war he would have a somewhat normal life with friends and family. What he gets is nothing like that at all. Written out of the pages of Harry's diary, the Gryffindor mask slips to reveal to all the Slytherin underneath. ONE-SHOT Recommendation: Slightly above average (a random read that doesn't waste your time or effort) Time Summary: After thirty years of no contact, the old gang meets again at a funeral. One very confused person tells of how this death has not only brought them all together, but how it effects each and every one. (Yugi/Anzu, Katsuya/Mai, Ryuuji/Shizuka, Leon/Rebecca, Honda/OC) ONE-SHOT Recommendation: Slightly above average (an interesting read) Protector Summary: When Yan Lin tells the girls the story of Meridian and Phobos, they flat-out refuse to believe her. Told mostly from Will's point of view, this is a rewrite of episodes 'It Begins' and 'It Resumes'. FINISHED and now REVISED Recommendation: Above average (a ramble of humor) Grimm Fairytale Summary: Everyone knew about the Grimms, and Monroe was no exception. Actually, he considered himself fairly knowledgeable on the subject -- at least, in so much that he knew enough to stay away from any Grimm's hunting grounds. Which left him in a very perplexing situation when some crazed Grimm cop barged into his house, demanding he divulge where he'd stashed some kidnapped little girl. And really, Grimm and cop? Was that even legal? Monroe's take on how he met Nick, with a little background story thrown in. ONE-SHOT Recommendation: Above average (humerous -- at least, of the gallow's humor variety) Translation: Grimm Fairytale has now been translated into Russian! A big thank you to krapivka37 for all the wonderful work! Trust me, I know nada of Russian, so this never wouldn't have gotten done without krapivka37. Please visit the link: http://www.fanfiction.ws/s/7963162/1/ I'm going to try different writing styles and maybe some one-shots. I like truthful reviews too. I want to know how I really am doing. I hope you like any of my fics you happen to read. Community: Epics: the Legend, the Adventure, the Journey A collection of . . . well, epics. I have always enjoyed a good epic story. In fanfiction, they are a rare jewel to find. They are not easy stories to write between the adventure choreographing, world building, character exploration, etc., and their general novel lengthiness. So after poking around the community section for a bit and becoming thoroughly disappointed, I decided to create this collection of fanfiction-based epics. These stories that I have found over the years originate from a diverse set of fandoms. Note that this is not a community of my personal favorites. Although many of these stories may be found on my favorites list, not all of them will be, but be assured that all are of high quality. But above all else, please, read and enjoy! Qualifications: 1. Story must include Adventure as a genre, although it is not necessary for it to be listed as one of the two primary genre selections. Generally speaking, there should be multiple changes in scenery (preferably in an exploratory nature, although not required) outside of canon. Thus, most Harry Potter fanfics are not epics because they fail to move outside of the comfortable confines of Hogwarts. 2. Story may include multiple side genres. Epics generally explore various aspects of the human experience (e.g., politics, psychology, philosophy, medicine, war, aerodynamics) and are not limited to one category. 3. Story must be of high quality. No obvious spelling errors or grammatical mistakes. Writing style is mature; strong voice is preferred. Extensive vocabulary is always a plus. Plotline should be strong and directive. 4. Story should be completed or have 30,000 words posted. Generally speaking one-shots do not count as epics, although I may revise this qualification in the future. If you have written a story or know of one that you think may qualify, feel free to send me a PM with the title and author's name. There are, after all, only so many stories and fandoms I can explore on my own time. Photo by Hannah Olinger on Unsplash |
