Author has written 55 stories for Star Trek: 2009, Ghostbusters, Dresden Files, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, and Chronicles of Narnia. I'm a mother of two school age children, one of whom is a newly minted Star Trek fan, while I'm a Trekkie old enough to remember watching TOS reruns in the 70s and first runs of the animated ST as a kid. I haven't written fan fiction in years, but the ST:2009 movie inspired me, so I've started again. I'm also an engineer but fascinated by in history and mythology, so in the tradition of TOS, references to those show up in some of my fics. I read a lot of scifi/fantasy and I'm partial to humor and parody. My tastes there range from Terry Pratchett (completely awesome) to Fritz Lieber, who both defined and slyly poked fun at the whole sword & sorcery genre in his work. I was talked into playing my Security Chief Giotto character at a Star Trek RPG (which has sadly closed now) and it forced me to create a history/bio. I generally have a good deal of back story for all of my characters, but this was the first time I'd ever written it down in a relatively organized form. Anyone curious about Sam can find it by going to and searching for 'noteasybeingred'. Also a couple people asked about the tattoo mentioned in the leather pants story. My best attempt at a sketch is also on the opening page of the noteasybeingred journal. I was recently reminded of one of my favorite bits from The Big Bang Theory while viewing Jolrael's profile and realized I absolutely had to put it in mine: Sheldon: You know, in difficult times like this, I often turn to a force stronger than myself. Update: I haven't posted in awhile. I'm afraid 'Into Darkness' sent my muse into a coma (Giotto kept beating his head against a wall over all the egregious stupidity wrt security and basic common sense). However, I have been writing. I joined a play-by-email Star Trek RPG which has been immense fun and allowed me to create completely original characters (including an Orion Doctor who's a bit Gaila, a bit McCoy, but largely someone who just sprang to life in my head, as well as a pair of caninoid SEALs from a race not unlike the Luperci Giotto encountered). If you'd like to join in, we're always happy to welcome new players. Check it out on yahoo groups: Star Trek: Forever |
