![]() Author has written 21 stories for Mass Effect, Danny Phantom, Elder Scroll series, Pokémon, and Metroid. Author Update: 24/5/2020 More than 2 years since I last did anything on this profile after the last two years of nothing; I'm sensing a pattern... Once again I still intend to finish my in-progress stories, but I have no idea about the time frame, I fear. On the plus side, I am still chipping away at them! Regardless, I hope you continue to enjoy what I've posted here! All the best, - Xenopsyche Hello all, Personally, I am an avid fan of the Techno-thriller subgenre, which tend to be Sci-fi/ thriller hybrids with an extreme amount of technical detail (think Michael Crichton, Matthew Reilly, Tom Clancy etc). Naturally, this preference extends into my writing. I strive to provide as much technical information as possible so that things happen less because of 'Space Magic' and more because 'Object x and Theory Y interact to form the effect that was previously called 'Space Magic''. So in theory, everything that happens in my stories should have a logical reason behind it, even if it involves the use of a fictional material to do so (like Element Zero in the Mass Effect series) For those wondering about my stories, they can currently be divided up into two aggregates: The Redemption Series: My take on the Mass Effect trilogy. All stories exist in the same universe, with the same Shepard, but make up a variety of styles, genres and focuses. In Chronological order they are: Redemption: Come What May: The prequel story for my Shepard, explores the barebones backstory we're given for the different backgrounds. Spacer/Sole Survivor history. [In Progress] Goodbyes Never Said: A short letter form Thane to his family, to be sent in the event of his death on a job. A contest entry for a competition on Aria's Afterlife. [Finished] A Perfectly Rational Fear: A relatively humorous piece about where Tali got her Arachnophobia from, mainly set during ME1, with some later chapters as well. [Finished] Metamorphosis: A more dramatic version of the Shuttle ride from the Lazarus Project station at the beginning of ME2. Because somehow I doubt a Sole Survivor Shep would take kindly to Cerberus in any way, shape or form. [Finished] A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed: A retold version of Garrus' ME2 recruitment mission. [Finished] Friendship to Last: My take on the Tali/Shep relationship/romance from Haestrom onwards. [Finished] A Battle 65 Million Years in the Making: In which Grunt discovers dinosaurs... [Finished] The Abyssal Maw: A retold version of the Suicide Mission, with the Explanations: Shepard has lunch with his mother after the events of ME2, and brings Tali with him. [Finished] Dawning: A reflection on Miranda's view on Mothers, motherhood and Mother's Day. Also a contest entry for a competition on Aria's Afterlife. [Finished] The 'Knife's Edge' Timeline: A collection of Danny Phantom Stories that all stem from my first DP piece, 'Knife's Edge'. Basically, I really enjoyed writing the characters and I got some really great feedback on it, so I decided to continue it a bit, and now I have a nice little continuous string of stories. Things you should know: All Characters are a couple of years older than they are shown in the show (with the exception of Danielle). This is a personal choice for me and can be ignored with little effect on the actual story. The time-span of some events have been twisted to be a bit more realistic, and there is an actual human cost to some of the events. The entire group of stories feature or make reference to a relationship between Danny and Sam (Samantha), and later, to a Parent/child relationship between them and Danielle. Clockwork is rather more active in Danny's life in these stories, but it is still very much in the background, often without Danny being aware of it. I have my own personal views on how the tech, ghost powers and halfa's work. These are likely divergent from the traditionally held views and explanations of these differences can be found in the relevant chapters of 'The Team Phantom Handbook'. The Summaries of the stories should tell you everything you need to know, so I will only make reference to brief notes on them here. Chronologically they are: Knife's Edge; This story is one of two that set up the tone and themes for the rest of the stories, hence why I refer to it as the 'Knife's Edge' Timeline. Focuses around Danny and his reaction to the events of the episode "The Ultimate Enemy" and also features Sam very heavily. [Finished] Moral Support; A short piece about the formation of "Team Phantom", largely focuses on Jazz. [Finished] As It Should Be; Danny tells his parents everything, and this story deals with their reaction. Primarily a focus on Maddie, but Jazz gets a decent amount of time too. [Finished] The Events That Shape Us; A reimagining of the episode "D-Stabilized", it attempts to account for the changes of the 'Knife's Edge' Timeline while still staying reasonably true to the show. Shifts perspective between Danny, Dani and Valerie mainly. [Finished] When is a Clone not a Clone?; The Danielle Codex; An informative piece, similar in function to 'The Team Phantom Handbook', that explains Danielle's creation, development and possible future challenges biologically. [Finished] The Edge of Reason; The final planned instalment for this collection of stories, it takes place a couple of years later than the others. It's basically Vlad making a final, desperate attempt to control and manipulate Danny and the fallout from his methods. [On Hiatus] The Team Phantom Handbook; A series of short pieces that deal with the technology, biology and physics of the DP world as I see it, along with short pieces on Danny's allies (in my mind) and, eventually, enemies. I would recommend either reading this first or last as it, along with 'Knife's Edge, set's up much of the concepts referenced in the other stories, but at the same time it may give away some of the broad plot points of the actual stories, though they are kind of obvious anyway. [Finished] Putting the Eyes in Invisibility; Just a random, humorous oneshot about the difficulties that Danny should have had with some of his powers, according to physics and Biology. Doesn't really link in with my other stories and is basically a stand-alone. [Finished] And since everyone loves quotes, I'll add a couple here as I go: "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners - of whom I am the worst." 1 Timothy 1:15 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make our paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 "I like to expect the worst; that way, there's a small chance I'll be pleasantly surprised." Garrus Vakarian, Mass Effect 2 "I don't need luck, I have ammo." Urdnot Grunt, Mass Effect 3 "Civilisations rise, advance, evolve; and at the apex of their glory, they are extinguished." Sovereign, Mass Effect 1 "I am a creature of the Night, doomed to live with a family of morning people." Samantha Manson, Danny Phantom Thanks for taking the time to read my stories/profile. |
