This is a marvelously well-written story. The characters are all so organic and unique, and the narration itself has a really quirky, snarky feel to it that sounds just like something Violet would say or think. I appreciate how realistically you portrayed the sibling relationship here—it's not just in life-or-death situations that rival siblings have each others' backs, but in the less-stressful-but-still-emotional domestic moments.

I also appreciated the portrayal of junior high students—it brought back all those memories of early adolescence. We all tried so hard to be hardcore, but we really weren't.

Anyway, I know this is a pretty old fic, but it still absolutely deserves kudos (no reference to AO3 intended). And if this was how you wrote seven years ago, I'd love to see how you write now.
