 Author has written 6 stories for Harry Potter, Natsume Yūjin-Chō, Chronicles of Narnia, Avatar: Last Airbender, and Naruto. Hi! I'm AJ (and I really don't know what to put into a profile post). My job is a daycare teacher, but I identify as a creative writer (let a woman dream a little). I've been writing since I was old enough to pound on the keyboard, and then ask my parents to read me the story I wrote (because I was only three, of course I couldn't read for myself yet). I've been writing intelligible short stories and poems from age 5 onward, and in college I got one of my poems and one of my short stories published in the student journal (the Nemadji Review, if any of you are curious). My favorite type of creative writing is fiction, specifically fantasy. Writing Fan Fiction makes this easy for me because the fantastical worlds are already established, I can just expound upon them. When I write my own fiction from scratch I go extremely slowly, making sure the world is built and the characters fleshed out before I do anything (I have a work-in-progress that I started back in high school about x-number of years ago). When writing fantasy I draw heavy inspiration from Lord of the Rings, Chronicles or Narnia, and other such works of literature (literature, not film; LotR was okay, but I am a book purist through and through - my friends know better than to invite me to the movies). I love manga and anime, and prefer to watch most shows with English subtitles (not knocking the dubs, they were my gateway after all). I am also in the infant stages of actually learning Japanese, so little bits of word-culture will leak into my writing if it is based off of a manga/anime. |
