That's actually a very good thought. It never occured to me but you're absolutly right they certainly would try to use it for their advantage and defeating death on a bigger scale than one life was never a good idea, opens way to many doors for bad people and tyranical political systems.
I think I just include this scene in my inner canon and consider it set. It makes a lot of sense.
