Author has written 10 stories for Young Justice, Fairy Tail, Naruto, and Black Lagoon. I am an eighteen year old living in a smaller village in lower New York. I graduated in 2013 from my local high school with Regents Honors with Distinction. I am soon to attend a local community college (HVCC) for two years and then on to a four year college that I had received a scholarship for in my Junior year. I am planning to major in History and I want to have a career in teaching, despite it's unpopularity to others. I have one real dream for the future, I want to have a baby girl and name her Alice. I am a big fan of manga, a few of my favorites being Fairy Tail and One Piece. As well as these adventure/comedies, I love yuri and Shoujo Ai manga. Not a fan of the ecchi in any, I love the relationships and the fluff :3 Favorite Pairings: Fairy Tail: LucyxCana, LucyxErza, GajeelxLevy, LisannaxNatsu, GrayxJuvia, MiraxErza One Piece: NamixVivi, ChopperxRobin (Mother-Son relationship), FrankyxRobin Naruto: InoxSakura, NarutoxTayuya, KibaxHinata Girl Friends: MarixAkko Young Justice: WallyxArtemis, JaimexCassie, IrisxBarry Justice League: WallyxShayera, ShayeraxDiana I have often heard people ask what one believes in, what one aspires to do, and what one is afraid to do. This is my response, an excerpt from 'Have You Seen The Shadows Dance': '... you have to see from another person's view, Walk a mile in another man's shoes. Be kind and gentle, Be cold and brutal. Survive and kill, Suffer and cause suffering. Save a life, Be saved yourself. Live, Love, Be loved. Lie, Be lied to. Break a heart, Have your heart broken. Experience true terror, And true relief. Shatter your life. Pick up the pieces. By the time this is done, you'll be old and grey. No one is going to get there and still be young. Go out on your porch, And watch the shadows dance.' I have thought about how I write and I realized that someone may be interested how and why I write the way I do. So I decided to share on a sort of step by step basis of how I formulate, plan, and write my stories. This is how I do it currently because it changes constantly and to show every iteration up to the current would take too long. Step One: Hear a song that you have never heard before and pay attention to it. Listen to it and try to form a story around the words and their meanings, this will become the earliest draft of the story. Have certain parts trigger an image in your mind; a photo album, a meadow, silhouettes holding hands or embracing. If this happens then make a mental or physical note of the song either by the name if you know it or certain lines and search up the lyrics later. This is also the step where most ideas are cut or forgotten as they don't feel that they'll work out. Personally, this is what I find to be the most fun in the process. I used to hate music growing up, believing that the current generation was terrible and not to my taste. Up until around thirteen I refused to buy a CD player or the earliest MP3 players because I wouldn't need or use them. Instead I listened to the radio in the car at times, growing to love humming to songs such as 'For the Longest Time', 'American Pie', and 'Piano Man'. It wasn't until I watched a rerun of Saturday Night Live and saw a band named The Killers preforming 'Somebody Told Me' that I began branching out. I still refuse to listen to some genres such as Screamo, Hip Hop, Pop, Rap, etc but I do listen to other genres such as Adult Contemporary, Soul, Soft Rock. Radio stations such as B95.5 and 99.5, New England esc stations that focus on the genres that I like. Now I listen to greater variety as well as bands and artists that interest me, Kelly Clarkson, The Killers, The Script, Maroon 5, The Fray, etc. Step Two: Download the song or listen online. Search the lyrics and read along the song once or twice. Then listen to the song on loop for hours, subconsciously interpret and analyze the song and it's meaning. Try to find the tone and mood of the song, does it match with the lyrics? If not is there a reason behind it? Does it add to the song and it's meaning? Form scenarios in your head as you research, as these will become the building blocks of the story This is the most important step, often times I find that my earliest interpretations are either wrong or misguided and I have to scrap the idea entirely. What I do is I listen to the song on loops as I do other things. I like to walk for hours at a time, on average two hours a day, and I use this time to clear my head and analyze. Sometimes it becomes background noise and my mind has to focus on it harder to pay attention. Step Three: Write down the rough draft or idea on paper. The paper makes it more official and pronounced, it is you and your handwriting and it catches your attention more than it would on a computer. I suggest black ink pens, most likely ballpoint, as it will glide easier and faster than a pencil and the lack of colors makes you focus on the task at hand. Make the ideas and plot go from point A -- B rather than scrambled, it will be better organized and in turn the story will be as well. This is my newest step that I incorporated into my writing, and it has become easily one of my most important. I have a great mind in terms of academics but I am horrible about memory. Some of my best ideas are lost because I didn't write them down, and as such, I have scrapped over a dozen story ideas because I realized that the idea would have made or broke the story. The way that I write now is I write a literal rough draft, with emotional cues, imagery, dialogue, etc. I choose if I want it in a third or first perspective, as well as if it will have any perspective changes. This helps for the next step. Step Four: Flesh out the rough draft from step three; add more detail to imagery, tie emotional cues with specific characters and actions, add life to features and make dialogue more fluid. I have found that 500 words in the first draft can become up to 1500 when you flesh it out. Make this the final draft, and in turn, treat it as such. Rather than write it down all at once, space it out and write when you feel like it. When this is done, reread and fix problems as you read. This is a section for songs that I am pondering/planning to write a story for: Daylight - Maroon 5 Summer of '69 - Bryan Adams For the First Time - The Script Over There (1917) - George M.
