Title: Daddy Is Always Right

"No." Zeref plainly answered before turning his eyes back to the book he's reading before his wife interrupted him.

Lucy, on the contrary, huffed. "You are being ridiculously overprotective, Zeref. My daughter is responsible enough to be allowed to mingle with her peers." The blonde heiress and Fairy Tail's resident Celestial Mage argued back.

"My daughter might be responsible, but I don't think I can say the same things with those peers you're talking about." Zeref retorted back.

Lucy grumbled, but she has no intention of backing down. Ever since their daughter, Aoi Dragneel, entered her teen years, Zeref has been cutting down her interactions with other teens, especially the males.

Lucy can understand his intention of protecting their daughter, because Aoi's father Zeref Dragneel, was once know as the strongest mage of all. But now, Zeref has kind of been inactive in Mage life preferring himself to be on the sideline and be an outside advisor of the current Guild Master of Fairy Tail. And also, he wanted to protect her daughter from unwanted attention from the male teens.

Lucy, however, wanted their daughter to have as much freedom as possible. The freedom she never acquired during her younger years. The only teens Aoi interacted with are their guild mates' children, the little Dragneel is especially closed to the sons and daughters of Team Natsu. Besides, Aoi can pretty much handle herself. She inherited her father's magical ability and, thank goodness, her mother's brain.

"Zeref, it's just a party! Even Natsu allowed Natsuki to go!"

"Natsu has completely lost his mind then."

Lucy felt her whole blood rose to her head, but she remained calm (as calm as she can possibly muster) because she knew that loosing her cool would not solve anything, especially if your husband is Zeref, who's unfortunately blessed with unlimited calmness.

"How about we compromise?"

Zeref lifted his eyes from his book to his wife.

"You'll allow Aoi to go to the party, but you get to choose her dress? I'll even ask Natsu to let Natsuo join the girls to the party. Fair enough, right?"

Zeref pursed his lips, pondering his wife's condition to appease him. "I want the complete address of the place, complete list of the people attending that party. And she also needs to be back home before 11."

Lucy narrowed her eyes at her husband accusingly. "I'm not giving you the address, I know you Zeref. You'll just use your magic to have someone tailed your daughter. And 11? Seriously? Even Cinderella's fairy godmother allowed her to attend a party until 12, for goodness's sake!"

"Then it's no deal." Zeref calmly stated, shrugging his shoulders before resuming back to his book.

Lucy threw her hands in the air in annoyance. "Bah! You're impossible. Fine, by 11." And then she stomped her way towards the lacrimal phone to call her pink haired best friend and brother-in-law.

Zeref secretly let out a triumph smile.

At first, Aoi was wearing a blood-red off-shoulder top that was showing off her midriff, it was partnered with a denim pencil-cut mini skirt. Aoi was also wearing an ankle-high boots. Her make up, courtesy of her mother, was done in light tone. But the outfit that she put too much effort to pick was rejected by her father. It was too revealing for his taste.

Aoi spent one hour to change different clothes, but her stubborn father kept rejecting her one dress after another. She argued with him of course, but her father was too impenetrable even with the help of her mother.

She even resorted to sneak out of the house through her bedroom window, but it only resulted of her grounded for one week when her father caught her in the act. She was forced back inside her room through the window she attempted to sneak out, with an unimpressed and angry father waiting inside.

"If you're not going to dress appropriately, then don't bother going to that party."

"But every girls in my age wear this kind of clothes!"

"I don't care how the other teens wear their clothes. I will not, however, allowed my daughter to parade herself with revealing clothes like that, especially when I'm not around to protect you."

"But Natsuo and Natsuki will be there with me! And if, god forbid, any perverts tried to do anything on me, I can protect myself!"

"No. If you want to fight with me, young lady, go ahead, but I'm warning you that you're not going to win this round." Zeref said with tone of finality before walking out of her daughter's room to allow her to change to a more acceptable clothes.

Lucy tried to appease her daughter when Aoi, grumbling all the while, changed her clothes. "Honey, your father is just worried about you."

"But he's too much! I barely even interacted with other teens besides anyone from the guild, because I'm the daughter of Zeref Dragneel. They are either too scared of that, or my strength as a mage!"

"Honey, please try to understand your father. He's not trying to caged you or stop you from mingling with other teens. But, you know that he's been alive for thousands of years, and he had witnessed every horrifying things in this world. Things that he didn't want happening to his only daughter. He's being overprotective because he loves you. We love you, baby girl."

Aoi sniffed, inwardly she understood her mother's words. She sighed before she removed her present clothes and settled onto a sleeveless floral dress that reached three inches above her knee, a thigh-high leather boots and a cardigan over.

After scrutinising her clothes, Zeref nodded in approval. Lucy smiled at her daughter and escorted her outside where the lacrimal car was stationed outside. Aoi and Natsuki (she was wearing a one-shoulder fit and flare dress that reached her knees with a gladiator flat sandals) giggled together. Natsuo stood beside the car, and he's planning to sit next to their mother, Lisanna, who was at the driver's seat.

Natsu was adamant of driving the kids to the event, but he's hopeless with any kind of transportation thus Lisanna volunteered to drive them after glaring at her son when Natsuo attempt to ask if he could drive the car. Natsuo has experienced in driving, and thank all the gods existed, do not suffer in motion sickness, but he's 'reckless' driver to say the least, so he's banned in using the car until he learned proper driving.

"Remember the curfew, Aoi. And Natsuo, I'm expecting you to be a 'proper' chaperone to your cousin and sister." Zeref reminded the teens with stern expression.

Natsuo gave his uncle a mock salute. "Don't worry, Uncle, Dad already drilled into me the importance of 'staying beside your sister at all times or else you'll be grounded for the rest of you life' kind of talk before leaving the house. The ladies are safe with me." The young teen grinned, the carbon copy of his fire dragon slayer of a father.

"Good," he nodded solemnly. "Now, off you go. Be safe."

The kids entered the car and Lisanna drove them. Zeref sighed, he has been feeling uncomfortable as he watched the car disappear in his view. Feeling her husband's apprehension, Lucy hooked her arm around her husband's waist.

"She's going to be okay, Honey. If you feel like there's something amiss, I won't stop you from going after your daughter. But please, let her mingle with her peers, for once, okay?"

Zeref grunted but he nodded at allowed his wife to lead him back to their house.

Zeref lifted an eyebrow when he sensed his daughter entering their house. He looked at the clock hanged on the wall just above their lacrimal television. It was only passed 10 in the evening.

"You're back early?" Zeref inquired his daughter.

Aoi, who was not expecting anyone in the living room, gasped in surprised and turned her head to her father. "Goodness, Dad! You scared me!"

Zeref gave his daughter a wry smile before patting the space on the sofa next to him. "I was not expecting you to be here at least around 11:30."

"Wow! You're giving me half an hour extension. Really?" Aoi teased her father, wrapping her arms around Zeref and planted her head over her father's chest. "You were right, Dad." She mumbled after her short silence. "The party was not as entertaining as I thought it would be. I mean, all those teens were only thinking about drinks which is, by the way, were spiked with drugs, smoke weeds, and get laid. It was kind of annoying. Horny boys only looked at the girls' boobs or butt, and we might be the only females the boys looked in the eyes in the middle of the conversation."

"Natsuki and Natsuo felt the same so after spending an hour in the party we all decided its time to leave. And uhm... when this one teen tried forcing his way on me when hitting on me did not succeed, I kind of used the technique Uncle Capricorn taught me." Aoi sheepishly confessed. She was expecting her father to be mad at her, but she was surprised when the only thing he did was to laugh loudly.

"I hope you gave him a concussion or two." Was her father's amused comment before planting a soft kiss on her head. "I'm glad you're starting to see thing my way. And I want the name of that boy who tried to... hit on you."

"Please, don't traumatized the kid too much. And you're always right, Dad. I'm sorry for doubting you." Aoi giggled and stood up and went to the stairs to change her clothes, and maybe she'll go to the kitchen where she can hear her mother humming a soft tune while cooking delicious midnight snacks. She and her cousins barely touched anything from the party afraid that the foods were also spiked with drugs.

Aoi skidded a stop when she remembered something. "Shiki-san was in the party as, and..." the young lady giggled shyly, her cheeks were staining red hues. "He said I'm the cutest girl in the party." Aoi sung before skipping her way to her room.

"Zeref, who are you calling in the middle of the night?"

"Redfox's residence."

"Uhm, I am too afraid to hear the answer, but why?"

"I'm going to warn that Shiki kid to stay away from my daughter."

"What?! Why?!"

"He complimented my daughter and I don't like the sound of it."

"This is too ridiculous! Zeref Dragneel, you put down that phone right now, or so help me god I'll make you do it by force!"

THE END

Sabrina's Musing Corner: I'm an introvert, I barely join parties so I'm not saying that all parties are like this. Drugs, weeds and sex. And, I'm only using this type or cliche party. So no offence to all the readers who are party-goers.

I also have my shares of 'sexual harassment' like catcalling, wolf-whistling, I have been touched by a horny security guard from my previous hospital, and some drivers would honk at me to get my attention while waiting for a jeep (Philippines public transportation) even though I'm trying to ignore them. Most of those times, I'm wearing my baggy hospital uniform. I don't get it how wearing my hospital uniform would even warrant those horny men's attention. I have this motto 'prevention is better than cure' as a nurse, and I used it as my life motto as well. So as much as possible, I wear clothes that would not attract men's attention.

But hear this people, especially the girls out there, no matter what kind of clothes you're wearing it will never be your fault if you received those kind of attention or harassment. You can wear clothes that you're comfortable with, and if by chance you encountered those idiotic men or women, ignore them or better yet report them.
