Author has written 1 story for Once Upon a Time. I never really know what to put, when I am asked to talk about myself. So, I will give it my best. I am married to an amazing woman and mommy to 2 beautiful Cavalier King Charles girls. I am always looking, like most lesbians, for shows or literature that resemble our lives and families. Fan Fiction gives that to me when Hollywood and Network TV fails. In 2015, I fell and shattered my left femur, I don't recommend doing this, and it has changed my life. I had many complications and ended up with kidney failure and on dialysis. Shortly after my kidney failure was reversed, I had excruciating pain in both of my inner and outer thighs. I had to have a couple of biopsies, which revealed, Calciphylaxis. My family and I were so happy to finally have a diagnosis. We could put a name to this horrible pain, but what we found out next was that Calciphylaxis has an 80% Mortality rate and very little treatment. I spent a year in a hospital bed, most of that time was actually in a hospital and in so much pain I prayed for the Goddess upstairs to take me. My wife and mother found an article from Mayo about a patient whose story resembled mine and she was still living. My mom cashed out some IRA's and had me transported to Mayo Hospital and they gave me hope for the first time all year. So, all that to say, I am in remission after several treatments and surgeries. In 3 more years, if I stay in remission, I will be considered cured! Which is what I am going for, while I am learning to walk again. I have permanent nerve damage in both legs and after spending a year on my butt in bed, my muscles atrophied. Reading Fan Fiction and other Lesbian based books has helped me escape from many hours spent in a bed, in a chair, and when I am having a pity party. And now I want to give it a go. Kind of like a way of giving back, after all the hours of reading I did and still do. |
