![]() Author has written 6 stories for Rise of the Guardians, Chronicles of Narnia, Hobbit, Pokémon, Harry Potter, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I am the one formerly known as OpalVampire. Feel free to call me Opal, though. The 'vampire' thing was from my vampire-loving days when I was 13 when my friend introduced me to Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. But I'm 23 now and am all but sick of vampires. But now I am OctoberOpal. Still, Opal will be fine. I've had the former for 9 years come May when I first logged into Quizilla (R.I.P.) and I think it's time for a change. Now, more about myself outside of my username. I love, love, LOVE music. Did I mention I love music? Well, I do. I don't really have a specific preference for what I listen to, it just depends on my mood. And my tastes can almost spread across the entire board. I used to like country music but now I just can't stand the way their voices sound (it's so weird, I can't even describe it). Favorite Music Albums: Ceremonials by Florence the Machine Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin A Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay The Celts by Enya By The Way by Red Hot Chili Peppers Coco by Colbie Callait Love Is Dead by Kerli Destiny by Celtic Woman Raining Up by Mairead Nesbitt Dreamchaser by Sarah Brightman Nocturnal by The Midnight Favorite Songs: Lazy Days & Someone Said Goodbye by Enya One Chance by Modest Mouse Arwen's Vigil by The Piano Guys Across the Stars (Love Theme For Star Wars) by John Williams Rocky Mountain High by John Denver Ordinary Love by U2 Open Your Heart by Crush 40 Curtains by Elton John Favorite Book Series: Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit by J.R.R. Snyder, and Lisa Klein Favorite TV shows/Cartoons/Anime: House, M.D. Mega Man Ruby Spears Cartoon Yu-Gi-Oh! Pokemon Star Wars Rebels Avatar: The Last Airbender Favorite Movies: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (The Hobbit is good, but it just doesn't hold up as well) Inception To Sir, With Love The Star Wars Original Trilogy The Dark Knight Trilogy The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian Star Trek 2009 When it comes to my writing and inspiration, I make OCs. It's my way of putting myself in the story. I don't like girl from Earth falls into fantasy stories (only a couple have actually managed to gain my approval and I'll never be able to write it myself) because the culture clash is too awkward for words. My OCs are kinda like extensions or inner selves. Like this is who I'd be if I were in this world. (Wishful thinking there, lol.) But I like putting myself in the story as well as making my own plot that weaves into the original plot of the story I'm writing about. I'm in fact a big fan of OC stories, but I can be pretty picky when it comes to how they integrate into the plot and world. I gnash my teeth every time I read people using "fantasy slang" in their fics. What I mean by "fantasy slang" is our use of the lord's name in vain. I'm not religious and I use it as much as the next person, but I get overly annoyed when it is put in fantasy. Examples: Lord of the Rings: By Eru, Oh Valar, Oh Elbereth The Hobbit: By Aule, Oh Mahal Pokemon: Holy Mew, By Arceus Avatar: The Last Airbender: By spirits ETC. because I know there's plenty more out there. I don't condone this because to me it just sounds absolutely ridiculous. And it's SOOO obvious that it's our own slang. Not only that, but it sounds pretty immature. I'm not saying that we can't use any kind of slang in fantasy, just use something that isn't connected to gods/deities/creators/spiritual beings. I personally like one that's used in the Study Trilogy by Maria V. Snyder. The heroine, Yelena, uses the term "Snake spit" to "curse". My One-shot(s): Dear Dad: Albus Potter's letter to Harry about his first day at Hogwarts. This fic came about a bit after I got into the thinking of the prejudices throughout the books. While I understand them at the time, I have high hopes that the ideas of the Slytherin House would become more and more honorable with the next generations. For years, I always saw Albus Potter setting his fear aside and making a new reputation for Slytherin House. My Currnet Stories: Fire in the Darkness: 10th Walker. As a mage, Elaniel takes prejudices from nearly all the other races, even that of her own race of men. And when she joins the quest of the Ring, it will not only be a quest against evil, but a journey shadowed by hate. Will hate and evil manage to destroy the already cold world, or will light and peace triumph? This one came from my -- if not most people's -- idea of being a part of the Fellowship. I just loved the idea of a hypothetical me going on this adventure and wondering how I could relate to the others in the Fellowship. Some people have noted that my OC, Elaniel, is a Mary-Sue to which I start a hearty protest, but then I take the Mary-Sue identifier into account and...yeah, she's a Mary-Sue. But I love her anyway and I still want to be in Middle-Earth! Guardian of Narnia: Ever since the creation of Narnia, elves have been the protectors of the throne. But after the war with the White Witch and the hundred year winter, their numbers are dwindling. Yet one elven maiden still clings to the hope that the prophecy will come true, and when it does, she will protect the Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve until her last breath. And who wouldn't want to see Elves in Narnia? This fic is actually planned to be the first of a trilogy; continuing with Savior of Narnia and Kinship of Narnia. Healer's Touch: Half-human, half-fairy, Lessil has the fairy's gift of being unseen, perfect for a hired burglar. But that is not the only reason Gandalf the Grey enlisted her help to reclaim the Lonely Mountain. Perhaps it can be in the healing of a dwarf king without a throne. Thorin/OC. My idea behind this was a Snow White-ish take on the Hobbit. For the longest time, I was a shipper of Snow White and Grumpy. I thought they'd make a VERY cute couple! Now I get the chance with a Snow White character and Grumpy (though Dwalin could just as well take the Grumpy characterization as well, lol! ) Home is Where the Heart Is: Gwen Lucas, a Kanto native, journeys to Unova for an adventure in a brand new world. Accompanied by her beloved partner, Pikachu, Gwen will earn badges, make new friends as well as rivals, and perhaps fall in love. Cilan/OC. What can I say? I'm in love with Cilan. Not only that, but the Black & White ship-off got me back into Pokemon! Jamie Frost? Jack Bennet?: Jack Frost falls in love with a girl and wishes to be human in order to be with her. But someone has to make sure Jack's duty as Guardian is fulfilled. Who other than Jamie, Jack's first believer? (Inspired by the movie Jack Frost from 1979) In immediate fan-girling over Jack Frost! Songs From the Heart: When Liana finally puts her heart into making her journey, she doesn't know what to expect. Who can predict the future anyway? Even so, her fate is already set...whether she knows it or not. But will her innocent heart be able to take it? Or will the burden of fate forever shatter her soul? I hate to say, but this fic will probably not be continued anytime soon. I do absolutely love 2nd Gen. Pokemon, but I'm just not feeling this anymore. The Jedi and the Handmaiden: A Jedi, committed to maintaining order within the Galaxy. A Handmaiden, committed to her Queen and the well-being of her planet. Two individuals with a similar desire for justice in the growing shadow. An Obi-Wan/OC fic (because who doesn't love our Negotiator?) that is intended to be the first in a series! The Past Becomes Present: Set eight months after the Aparoid Invasion. While flying solo, Fox McCloud crashes upon the planet Orhea, located just outside of the Lylat System. With his Arwing incapacitated, Fox must travel through the primitive world of the Orheans where he meets a familiar face. This was my first attempt at fanfiction and that is the ONLY reason I have not deleted this...thing. *Sigh* We've all got to start somewhere! But this fic has definitely died with no hope of resurrection. My Future Stories: Personal Assisting (Yu-Gi-Oh!): Seto Kaiba is not the easiest man to work for and he isn't inclined to change. But Elisa can handle it. In fact, she can rise to the challenge. More than that, she can see his many nuances and some of them aren't as bad as other people think. Seto Kaiba/OC. Inspired by the Eternal Love series by LadyPhoenix99, I do love the arrogant egomaniac known as Seto Kaiba. There's an endearment in his arrogance and I hope to write a nice romance that suits his character type. Dragonborn (Avatar: The Last Airbender): Dragons were known as the original practitioners of firebending until the corruption of the Hundred Year War wiped them all out. But a young woman still holds the ancient customs of the dragons in her blood. Upon the Avatar's return, it may be up to her to restore the true nature of fire to a scarred prince. Zuko/OC. A slow in-the-works fic that involves a SLOW-burn romance for our beloved Fire Nation Prince. United (Harry Potter): In the growing darkness, everyone must chose their side. Sylena has chosen hers, but will they accept her? Long-lived prejudice runs deep and a Slytherin is rarely painted as anything other than a soon-to-be Death Eater. Harry/OC slow-burn. Again, with my idea of giving light to the Slytherin House in a small way. A character that respects her house despite the bad reputation it has and the desire to shed light on its darkness. And it won't be easy, a change like that won't be easy and it will be scary. Untitled (Eragon): I'm unsure of how this one is going to turn out. I have many, many ideas in mind, but not so sure of how it will come together. It may or may not come..who knows? Untitled (Man of Steel): Despite not being of this world, Clark Kent takes some small comfort in knowing that there is some place where he belongs. Some one to return to. Some chance to feel human. Clark Kent/OC Got obsessed with Man of Steel for a moment and started something. May be a while before this is up. Legacy (Iron Man): One of those Tony Stark's daughter fics that we all love! (Well, I'm not sure about love, but I do find them intriguing.) 100% Pure (Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory): Childhood friends, Willy and Jacqulene haven't seen each other in more than a decade. When Wonka sends out his Golden Tickets into the world, perhaps by chance the two will reconnect again. And with Jacqulene's teenage daughter. Willy Wonka/OC In loving memory of the late and great Gene Wilder, an amazing actor, an unparalleled talent, and the perfect Willy Wonka. R.I.P.
