Author has written 5 stories for Doctor Who, and Lord of the Rings. “Into the mouth of death he strolled, Into the gringy gloom, Into the pit of fear unknown, Perhaps to court his doom. That was good. What did I say? What did I say?!” Brother Gilbert, Dragonheart I happened to be on my old university's website today, and I read a quote in the English with Media Studies section, from the American author Kurt Vonnegut: "Here is a lesson in creative writing. First rule: Do not use semicolons. They are transvestite hermaphridites representing absolutely nothing. All they do is show you've been to college." Oops. Current Work Tinder for the Flames is the first part of the Fire Series. I know it is a looooooong time since my last update, but I have NOT abandoned this story. Real Life just keeps getting in the way, and the fact that the chapter was rewritten because it was god awful writing does not help, either. But it is getting there, and it is certainly closer to completion than I thought it was. It will be with you soon, I promise. Disclaimer (because I might get sued if I don't...) I hate having these in stories, because they make me feel guilty, so it can come in here instead... All 'borrowed' characters, places and situations belong to their creators, be they from book, film, or television franchises: I am borrowing them only, and seek to make no profit from any creations I come up with involving them. All original characters and situations created by me do, of course, belong to me. Just a quick note... Observations people neither care about or read... Has anyone else noticed that most peoples' usernames sound like race horses? Stuff about Me (Or, An Extension of the Above Section that Will Not Be Read) You may have already guessed this, but I like to write. A lot. But what is not so clear is that my creative time is currently stretched between two loves: writing Tinder for the Flames, and drawing. Yep, I'm an artist ... of sorts, anyway. I don't sell any work at the moment, though I have done in the past. I love painting with oils, but I presently have neither the space nor the time to use them. Luckily for me, my first love is graphite drawing. I have one that I am working on at the moment that I have wanted to do for years, but have held back from doing because I wasn't at the right level to do it justice. I feel that now I am, and I'm dividing my time between writing and drawing ... which is why updates take so long, if I'm honest. That, and the fact that I'm a perfectionist. Anyway, if you are vaguely interested in what I do, visit my deviantART page: Criticism is more than welcome! There's a drawing of David Tennant as the Doctor; two horses I painted donkey's years ago; a Gimli drawing I did before that, and a blue dog. Yes, a blue dog. Have a look through my favourites, by the way, because there is some amazing stuff in there... Completely off topic, I have a lot of music that I like. Really, my scope is very broad. Film scores, TV scores, some rock, some pop (though less and less as I get older), classical with orchestra, classical with brass (I play tenor horn in a brass band) ... all sorts. I find that I create best when I have music in the background. At the moment, it's Mumford and Sons. Great band. I have playlists on my iPod created for different moods and creative modes. Because Tinder for the Flames has taken on such a dramatic/tragic air, that's what my main playlist is about ... so there's a lot of the more heartfelt and dramatic Lord of the Rings tracks in there, some Mumford and Sons, some Bon Jovi (It's my Life is a GREAT song ... and got me my current job, believe it or not!) Anyway, that's quite enough for now ... I don't think people read these, so I'll go do something a little more constructive ... but if you have read my profile, thank you! Ghost |
