I wept with Legolas. So sad!

Oh my gosh! I love that last little bit about gimli being there for him! It almost made me cry!

Great pacing, you really keep the tension up! I think these mortal friendships; as hard as they are sometimes, give Legolas as much as they take.

"I imagine I can feel her quiet calm rushing over him to soothe his battered soul and he stops. Finally the never-ceasing movement comes to an end as he leans into her touch, pale gold hair next to dark, and she will know. She, of all of us, will know the dark places to which his mind has been flitting."
What a beautiful passage! The whole piece is lovely, you did a wonderful job of conveying the emotion throughout. And I love your writing style.

:( In tears here. The thought that Legolas will be the last of the Fellowship alive is heart breaking. He will be alone in the end...when Gimli is gone. I don't even want to think about what it will be like when Gimli dies. It's a horrible sacrifice that he makes. An aptly named story.

This is so very very true! It is just how I see Legolas' courage in befriending mortals and taking them into his heart.

Few Elves do. For Elrond it is part of his heritage and in his blood, as it is for his sons and daughter. Galadriel has been through enough Ages to mourn Elves as well as mortals. But for Legolas it is a knowledge he was not meant to know and a sorrow he should be free of-and yet for him it is worth it to befriend mortals, those whom he will remember and grieve until the end of the world.

This was wonderful. I have not seen many people bing in the fact that Legolas will outlive his friends and what that fact causes him. You wrote this beautifully and I can't wait to read more of what you have written!

-Cries for hours- I have read so much of your work in the past two hours, I think, and I have loved them all. I have never really seen Elladan and Elrohir painted as you have portrayed them, and I find that I do enjoy the change. And I also do love the way Gimli is possessive of Legolas. It is endearing. Perhaps we'll get to see more of it in the future? Or, mayhaps, the reversed of it? Either way, whatever comes next, you can rest easy knowing that I will be amongst your readers from now on! I was just nosing around and decided to give this a read, and I quite enjoyed it! It's a nice little bit of insight into a part of Legolas' relationships wirh Aragorn and Gimli that I've always found very interesting. Well done. It was sweet in the right kind of way, and I'm glad I read it :)

I am so glad this got the recognition it deserved at Teitho. A wonderful story, beautifully written which had me quite teary in the end. The thought of Legolas mourning his friends for eternity is just so heartbreaking.
As ever, your Legolas and Gimli are superbly written, you capture the essence of their characters so very well for me and with every story they become more 'real'. I must admit to assuming that this one was yours when I first read it because of this.
