Just ran across this story and loved it. This is exactly like I think Kirk would have felt the first time he took the Kobyashi Maru. Nice Kirk and McCoy interaction, the two characters play nicely off each other. I see the story was published in 2009, but's it's never to late for a review right?

The story lacked a little more omph - but the ending, the last few lines between Kirk and Bones - just lovely. Kirk's revelation - I think that was nearly perfect (always room for improvement I say - though I couldn't direct you to how or where.) Thanks

Very good story. Bones' comments and thoughts were very in character. The same with Kirk. But good job adding in those moments of indecision. It makes him very human . . . and very much like a real cadet.

That was wonderful. I haven't really read any other fics about the Kobayashi Maru - actually, this was the second one, recommended to me by the author of the first one. Wonderful job, I really enjoyed it. It was perfectly in character and very well written.

Yeah, that's got to be a kick to the head.
