adamo393 chapter 1 . 6/24 Omg this story seems so interesting! I know its unfinished... but im gonna read on anyway.. id rather disappear in this fantasy while the world is in pandemonium right now with covid and everything. Onwards! |
mellon chapter 15 . 5/17 You've totally ruined all other tenth walker stories for me |
5993 chapter 15 . 5/8 nice story! |
Leafnova chapter 11 . 2/21 I love your writing! |
Dragonborn chapter 15 . 1/9 I like the idea of dragons being maiar or their descendants instead of born evil. If even those ugly looking Balrogs are corrupted maiar then there is no reason Ancalagon and Glaurung are as well. Please don't abandon this story. It's too great! |
nerd chapter 15 . 10/20/2019 This is amazing! Of all tenth walker stories, yours is without question the best. Dragons, sensational writing and everyone is true to their character. You certainly have done a lot better job with Elysia than Peter Jackson did with Tauriel. Her character felt too forced in the hobbit but Elysia feels so natural like she was officially part of the tolkien universe. I really hope you come back to finish this story. Even just one chapter after this time would be enough. |
H.G.Wells chapter 15 . 10/10/2019 I have to say I am impressed with this! There are of course quite a few fanfic stories introducing the possibility of dragons fighting on the side of good as well as evil in Middle-Earth - but this definitely has to be the most well thought-out and written of those stories, especially in terms of characterization, detail, lore and overall quality of writing. The lore of the dragons of Arda is well constructed here, and ties in very nicely to Tolkien's existing material. It's great that you acknowledge the first known dragons shown in the Silmarillion; that Glaurung was only the first to be seen by the free peoples, not necessarily the first to exist. I have to say that I find it odd that Tolkien states that Glaurung, Ancalagon and others of their kind were "spawned" by Morgoth, when we know explicitly that Melkor and Sauron could never create their own original beings - only corruptions of what already existed. The most credible canon explanation I've heard for this is that dragons were spawned as corruptions of Eagles - but even that's stretching it, in my opinion. The fact that you describe Dragons as being Maiar (or Maiar-descended) in their own right, and that they have produced good and evil just as the Maiar as a whole have produced Gandalf and Sauron, and that they too can be corrupted like all the other races in Arda...it's not only a very good way of opening the door for benevolent dragons, it's also quite appropriate given the level of power Dragons possess in Tolkien's universe. You also offer a reasonable explanation as to why most of the Free Peoples haven't already seen good dragons - they are even fewer than the Dunedain right now. And as Gandalf points out and Elly knows all too well - they have seen too much of war with the dark powers. I have no doubt that there are Dragons still alive at the time of the War of the Ring who remember Morgoth's oppression of their kind in the First Age, never mind Sauron's massacres. As for Elly herself - I love her character, her personality, her fire (metaphorical as well as literal) and her backstory. Her relationship with the other characters is beautiful, from her motherly tenderness with Frodo right down to the revelation in the last two chapters you wrote. My guess is that given her reactions to the growing power of the ring, she would end up breaking paths from its bearer - though as with Aragorn, that would not be easy for her. I do hope you return to this story - seeing Elly in the rest of the War of the Ring (and dare I say other dragons?) would be awesome. I'm not one to talk, given my updating record. But I'll definitely keep an eye on this story. Good work! |
guest chapter 2 . 10/5/2019 Just when you find a perfect story and you find out that it's not been updated for years:( |
Brightflame chapter 15 . 9/25/2019 Is this story discontinued? Such a shame for a fic like this to be left unfinished. |
Crosswald chapter 1 . 6/13/2019 As a BIG Eragon fan, it's really nice for me to notice these elements. |
Dragonlover chapter 1 . 3/26/2019 I know what you did referring to Eragon and Saphira. It was interesting |
