HEY AUTHORS

The reason most people don't bother reviewing your fics is because of your stinking attitudes. When I take the time to review a fic I enjoyed (or didn't) and list the reasons why, what could be improved on, point out mistakes in grammar/spelling/context etc then get a disrespectful, dismissive response from the author, failing to explain themselves and getting offended by constructive criticism (You know, the shit they post here for?!) it really makes me wonder why I bother to A: read the story, and B; Review it. I will not be doing so from now on, unless particularly motivated by an appealing fic or author attitude. Fuck this leave nice reviews movement because they don't all deserve it. I see so many snarky AN's addressing obviously major issues in stories and just generally being disrespectful cunts to their readers and it is so fucking appalling I had to say something.

There are so few genuinely nice people left in the world, and even fewer talented, practical, knowledgeable authors left in the world. Just because you write a story, it does not make you God.

Heads up before more nasty anonymous PMs that are obviously authors not brave enough to respond from main accounts: if you're offended by this statement, you most likely fall into the first category of authors, if you understand what I mean and have experienced this yourself, you most likely fall into the second.

I'm trying to balance this because I've had some wonderful back and forth on this site over the years, and some extremely memorable chats with other fans of certain fics and their scrupulously polite, well spoken authors but recently... Christ the standard of good manners has dropped, so mostly, here's a collective fuck you from an avid former reader. Good luck to you.
