About me: Bleh, I hate writing about myself. It just seems like such an egotistical thing to do.

I like anime and manga. Which ones? I like plot-driven stories more than ones that follow the same shonen formula over and over again for about 50 filler episodes per 20 of canon events. Interesting characters are a must and if there's good character development, all the better. Amongst my favorites are:

Steins;Gate- My favorite one that recently came out. It's not action-based but the characters are memorable, the plot is fantastic, and the visuals and music are good. It's an anime that has you thinking and theory-crafting the whole time you're watching it and loving every minute of it.

Fate:Zero- Based on the light novels set in the Nasuverse. An excellent storyline with lots of action and moral dilemmas as well as interesting character interactions. I found Kiritsugu to be the most interesting perspective character in the Fate series, with the possible exception of Shiro later on in the UBW arc of the visual novel.

Shiki- A vampire story with great twists and turns. It has a rather slow start but, once it got rolling...I found it amazing. More of a thriller/horror than action, but the plot...A well done anime in every sense of the word.

There are a few that I like, but fell short of the other list due to a few story-telling tropes that I have a general dislike for. Amongst them:

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu- I love this show, I really do, but Endless Eight... Gah, Endless Eight. Still, I suppose Disappearance made up for it. Yeah, the only reason this isn't on the previous list was because of KyoAni's trolling viewers with over half a season of "Kyon-kun, denwa."

Gundam 00- Still one of my favorite mecha shows, the main complaint I have against 00 is the use of deus ex machina at the end of season 2. I can understand wanting to wrap things up nicely so I forgive the writers for that, but it's still not my favorite story telling tool. Other than that, I liked this show due to its relevance to events that were going on in the world at the time though, thinking about it now, just what would the use of deus ex machina at the end of the series imply for us in the real world?

Mahou Sensei Negima- As with Haruhi, I really wanted this series to be on the "best" list. Even with the shonen-style fighting and the harem-esque setup, the story-telling was really really good from the Kyoto arc onwards. Actually, I prefer the shonen fights in this series to ones like Bleach or Naruto, call me a heretic or whatever, but I do. The reason why it's not on the previous list? The ending was incomplete. That's it, really.

About my writing: I consider myself a decent writer, but I don't have too much experience writing fiction. Most of my writing up until now was for reports/research papers for school and college. Getting a bit into reading light novels and I'm working on imitating the style a bit and adding my own touches to it. I'm probably not going to write any fiction for the more "main-stream" anime like Bleach, Naruto, or One Piece because I'm just not really into those series. As long as I continue to have fun doing so, I will continue to pound away at the keyboard until either a chapter is complete or my laptop implodes.
