Author has written 2 stories for Harry Potter, and Dragon Ball Z. Hello. I'm a 22 year old guy. I love reading, and I have an overactive imagination. I would very much like to write and complete a story, but whenever I get an idea and start writing it down, I get bombarded with new ideas and can never finish anything. I have approximately fifty unfinished stories, spanning five different fandoms. The fandoms I enjoy are Harry Potter, Dragonball Z, Star Wars, Smallville, Legend of Zelda, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Because I can never finish writing anything, I spend most of my time reading fan fiction. Before I discovered fan fiction, I read published science fiction and fantasy works. Now, however, I prefer fan fiction and for three fairly solid reasons: first, it doesn't cost anything; second, it is easily accessible; and third, the writing in some fics is of equal or better quality than that found in published works. Of course, absolutely terrible writing also exists, but I think after five years of fic browsing I've learned how to avoid it. The few published authors I still read are Michael Crichton, Cormac McCarthy, and Robert Ludlum. I like math, the sciences, foreign languages, and learning new words. I dislike literary analysis and English classes. Bodybuilding, tennis, and piano are my other main interests. Harry Potter Fandom: In the Harry Potter fandom, I prefer reading dark, independent, or AU fics, or anything where Harry Potter is actually competent. As Harry is the main protagonist of the series, the story should be about him, and he should be skilled and powerful. I'm fairly sure that in the last five years I've read several thousand Harry Potter fan fics, and I have about forty-ish unfinished Potter fics saved on my hard drive. I have only one posted, and after reading it through recently, I realized I had no idea where it was going. I violated the first law of writing: know what you are going to write. Potter pairings I prefer are Harry/Hermione and Harry/Tonks, but I'm fine with basically anything Harry/reasonable female choice, with reasonable being a character around his age and with a complementary personality. I can stomach Harry/Ginny, but only if the writing and story are excellent, such as in Joe's Hero trilogy. I abhor slash, and have never been able to finish the first chapter of any slash story, even if the plot and writing were of good quality. Dragonball Z Fandom: Gohan is my favorite character, so I read anything well-written in which he is still the strongest character in the series. Pairings don't matter to me in DBZ. I'm certain I've read every good Gohan story on FanFiction.net. I have a few in-progress stories involving DBZ. Star Wars Fandom: First things first: the new trilogy does not compare with the original trilogy. The original trilogy will always be the true Star Wars. In the Star Wars fandom, I enjoy reading Luke-centric stories wherein he is intelligent, skilled, and powerful. I've read almost every Luke-centric story on FanFiction.net, and I'm trying my hand in writing one, though it, like every other writing of mine, is still a work in progress. I grew up with Luke as the hero, and thus I prefer reading about him. I find Anakin's character to be very annoying, and I don't sympathize with him. Legend of Zelda Fandom: I enjoy reading Zelda fics that are Link-centric. I prefer a Link that is skilled and intelligent, and I hate it when authors treat him as an idiot. Ocarina of Time is, in my opinion that I'm sure no one cares about, one of the greatest games ever made, and my favorite fics are ones that involve Ocarina and Majora's Mask continuations. The Ocarina Link is the Link I prefer reading about. Avatar: The Last Airbender Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender is an amazing show, period, and I'm sad that it ended. Aang, as the protagonist of the series, is my favorite character, though he is followed closely by Iroh and Katara. My ship of choice in this fandom is Kataang, as I see Aang and Katara as having a deep spiritual bond, and I'm glad that it ended up as canon. I will, however, read other ships such as Taang and strangely enough, Azulaang. I don't even particularly like Azula's character, as I see her as far too perfect a villain, aside from her mental illness. Avatar is currently my main writing focus, and I'm working on a story that I'm fairly sure incorporates an original idea. Smallville Fandom: I've just recently been exposed to the wonderment that is Smallville. I saw a couple episodes of season nine and then decided that I had to watch the whole series. So I did. The show didn't, however, turn out the way I wanted it to, so I've started some of my own Smallville stories. Maybe someday I'll post them. |
