I don't know if you'll ever see this, but this is probably my favorite fanfiction I've ever read. I first found it sometime probably six years ago, and was amazed. Unfortunately, I lost the link to this when I had to get a new laptop. Every couple of years now I spend an hour or two trying to find this specific fic, read it all the way through, and then forget to save the link. Thank you for writing this.

I just splurged through your entire fic overnight, I really enjoyed it. Your portrayal of the characters is excellent and you've done a great job weaving your own story into that of canon.

I don't think I like this version of Iroh. He's too underhanded. I get the impression that if Zuko did successfully capture Aang, Iroh would try to help him escape. In contrast, I'm fairly certain canon Iroh would not. At least not without announcing his intentions to Zuko. He would suggest things, reason, and generally try to get Zuko to do "the right thing," but unless he was willing to outright betray Zuko, he would put his full effort into doing what Zuko had decided. Because that's what Zuko is trusting him to do. Anything less is a betrayal. Including keeping relevant information from him.
Now, if Iroh were the one in charge, it would be another matter entirely. He would be the one making the decisions and would be under no obligation to tell Zuko anything he didn't want to.
But, of course, this is just my opinion.

I come back again and again to reread and remember how much I love this story. Its as good as my memories make it out to be.
