Author has written 6 stories for Bible, Heartland, and Heartland. Hey there. If you're here because you've read my earliest stories, that's awesome (even though they're old and kind of cheesy). It's been a while since I first joined this site--over thirteen years, in fact. In that time, I've completed four years of college, gotten married, moved, had three jobs, had a kid, and learned so much about God, love, life, and stories. If I could sum up the most important thing I've learned during that decade, it would be captured in this quote: "I hear you about the cycle of re-commitment, failure, guilt, silence, re-commitment, failure, guilt... MAN, have I been there. And I have an idea for you. Give up. Seriously, I recommend this. It's scandalous in many Christian circles to say this, but I mean it. You will never, ever, ever, be able to get yourself together enough, morally, to think you're finally acceptable to God, or that things are finally 'okay', somehow. Ever. Or, if you did somehow think that, you'd be deluding yourself...You tried the moral thing, you tried making promises, you tried all that, but you keep blowing it, and you always will. So give up... And, oh, by the way, once you've done that, and realized that God hasn't left you, isn't angry with you, isn't wanting to punch you in the mouth, you might actually start to fall in love with Him. Seriously." (Brant Hansen, "In Response to Jane: Here's to Giving Up") OTPs: Amy/Ty (Heartland) Peggy Carter/Steve Rogers (Captain America) Rory/Jess (Gilmore Girls) Jim/Pam (The Office) My current story, "Wherever You Go," is a series of missing scenes from the Heartland books (with a bit of stuff from the TV show thrown in). The title comes from a song by Audrey Assad. You can find out more about it on my Tumblr, beth-is-rainpaint. |
