A/N: I have an obsession.
She's going to play it cool. She barely glances at the door when it opens—just a quick check. Nothing significant.
When she fixes her hair for the third time, there's no real reason. Just—it was bothering her. Again.
It's nice. All these new people. And Jim. It will be good to see Jim again—he's a favorite around here. Unless you're talking to Dwight. But the point is, Kelly will be glad to see Jim—Phyllis will…everyone will. Pam's part of the office family, and they're welcoming a lot of new members and a returning friend. It's great. Really great.
She's going to play it cool. She is. She really is. But her heart keeps beating faster and before she knows it, there's a smile on her face. Just—it will be so inexplicably wonderful to have him back, exchanging glances when Michael does something ridiculous. So, you know, always.
Pranking Dwight.
Whispering in the kitchen.
She hasn't had any fun since Jim left, to speak of.
She hasn't—
She thinks of the office at night, her in a cocktail dress, huddled against her desk. Talking to her mom. And he walks in—here again, after everything—and his mouth is on hers—
She's going to play it cool. They—they're so not going to worry about any of that. She's in the past. It's…different now.
But in a few moments, she's smiling again.
And then he walks in, with his striped scarf and his smile and a joke she barely hears—
He's back. He's here again, after everything.
And she can't think to do anything but close the distance between them.
