Reviews for Beautiful Serpent
serpentard03 chapter 1 . 1/18/2016
This fic makes me happy, as we never got to know much about Ramandu's daughter. The proposal was very sweet! Thanks for your writing.
beth-is-rainpaint chapter 1 . 6/25/2015
Just beautiful! I love how you've characterized her. She reminds me a bit of Elinor (from "Brave"), one of my favorite fictional queens. Sometimes I have trouble reading a story that contains a lot of exposition, but this worked so well because the descriptions are given entirely from the point of view of a magnificently developed character.
Eiladwyn chapter 1 . 12/12/2013
Caspian's request to be looked upon as a man rather than a King was simply beautiful. Thank you for posting!
ardna chapter 1 . 5/17/2012
Sweet and sad, beautifully simple. I was delighted to find references indicating the Narnia films I have grown up with. I am so glad you put this up here... it is a true credit to Narnia.

(The editor in me just wants to point out a handful of grammar errors-mostly just words in the wrong places. Hope that's helpful)
Ariyah chapter 1 . 11/22/2011
Wow! Great story. You definitely drew me in. I personally feel that the part about the island was a bit long (as I was waiting for her death so brilliantly introduced at the start) and a couple words didn't seem to fit the style of the rest of the tale (eg: "Absolutely!"), but overall, this is one of the best fan-fics I've ever read.

Awesome! This is so cute! *U* Rock on! This is amazing! *U* Rock on! Seeing more about the dear killing of Ramandu's daughter...! *U* I love it! I've always wanted to see more!
Queen Katrina the Seafarer chapter 1 . 1/20/2010
hi, this was a cool story and I loved it!
Love and Rock Music chapter 1 . 8/24/2009
I adore this story. Everything about it is captivating. The writing draws you in from the very first; the language is perfect, well-composed with a very natural flow.

What's amazing is the entire piece is saturated with personality - and since the narrator is the fabulously flat Ramandu's daughter, that is a very noble feat indeed. As you know, I'm a Lucian fan with no great love for Ramandu's daughter, but here I find her a likable and sympathetic character. The tale told in her voice is rich in detail, excitement, and especially romance. The whole thing has a kind of beauty and a very epic feel (I particularly like the detail that her mother was about to kill herself at the sight of her father).

I was glad to see the subtle mention that the Lady in Green was there when it all began, because I also agree that she was Jadis. Her character was fabulous, btw, and I loved that Ramandu's daughter stayed sitting for their whole conversation. The one thing I didn't like was the parents waiting all those years for someone to wash up on shore to marry them. I feel if two people were alone on an island and feelin' the love, they wouldn't really wait years to get together, if you know what I mean.

But the whole thing was wonderful, and it's very fitting that you went the entire piece without giving her a name. I love this line: "They grew close in heart and alike in mind, and as the woman who was to be my mother grew older, the ancient who was to become my father grew younger." Awesome!
Capegio chapter 1 . 5/25/2008
Oh holy shwow, this is absolutely gorgeous. I just finished reading VoDT, so it's particularly fresh in my mind. You've taken a character we know so very little about and fleshed her out into a beautiful, starry Queen. I especially loved the beginning about her interactions with Caspian, which show his more human side. I have to say also, I absolutely love your simple writing style, as if in a conversation. It draws me into the world so effortlessly.

I had actually forgotten how she dies until I reached the part where she went out riding, and then I remembered (s'been ages since I read Silver Chair). Her acceptance of her death was so beautiful, and the tiny bit of implied fear that came along with it made it seem that much more relatable and lovely. I absolutely loved this. I love that it's not like every other fic written, too. The originality is truly refreshing.
Fishy Rainboots chapter 1 . 5/17/2008
Great job! I really enjoyed it. You did a great job portraying Ramandu's daughter.
Rumpleteasza chapter 1 . 11/16/2007
This is achingly beautiful.

So exquisitely written. You've given insight into a, let's face it, thrown-away character, with such total grace that I was just open-mouthed reading this. You have amazing talent. I absolutely loved this story. All I can say is, I am glad there are writers like you in the world, because they make it a better place.
Argentus chapter 1 . 11/13/2007
This is simply gorgeous storytelling. I've been waiting for this kind of fic about Ramandu's daughter! The scene where she confronts the Emerald Witch, actually *face to face* is so chilling! I also love Caspian's awkward, but completely heartfelt proposal; and how you described the totality of his love for her, and hers for him... “perhaps he had loved me all his life and not known it”, whoa, for some reason, I find that completely fitting, coming from Caspian. And her fierce love for the two people she loves most; overriding her Queenship…and Rilian’s devotion to her till the very end, puts a lump in my throat. I also appreciate how you united them in the end, and left us with the hope of her and Caspian finally reuniting with her son. I find it a great disservice to the Star’s Daughter *and* to Caspian himself, if people ignore her existence in the afterlife and have Caspian forget her!

It’s a simply bewitching story, both the plot and how you’ve written it…going in my Favorites!
preciousjewl chapter 1 . 11/4/2007
Very well done! As the story ended, I couldn't help thinking about when Aslan brought back Caspian as a yong man, when Eustace plucked the thorn, and pushed it into Aslan's paw, and the blood flowing in the water. I think you should do one of Caspian's "re-birth" I mean, if him coming back as a boy. Anyway, I loved the story, great job!
Alquawende chapter 1 . 10/26/2007
Terrific job on characterising Ramandu's daughter. You give the reader more insight into what she thought when she first met Caspian and how their life was like at Cair Paravel. The part where she dies is quite sad, yet she is so brave. I always wondered why Caspian didn't have more children because wouldn't he be worried if Rilian was killed?
Rosa Cotton chapter 1 . 10/25/2007
Simply amazing... Wow. Ramandu's daughter was always sort of an afterthought for me I'll confess. But this was wonderful, writing about her whole life.

I loved the scene between her and the Witch. How did you come up with the idea that Ramandu's daughter saw the Witch in her physical form? The possibility never occured to me.

Wonderful style of writing. Loved the voice you gave her. And your descriptions were beautiful.

Job well well done!
