I can think of several alternative remarks that Susan could have made (e.g. "Aslan told us to look for him in this world, and that we would never return. Growing up gives me a chance to do things that actually matter, to help other people and affect the world, rather than just pining over Narnia for the rest of my life.") but I think Eustace's arguments encapsulate much of what Lewis wanted to say about Susan.

From what I have read about Lewis' beliefs, I think that you captured what could easily have been his thoughts on Susan more thoroughly than he did. I am still on her side, but it easier to see a sensible opposition to argue against than it is in the scene in TLB about Susan.

...And then LB happened, the train crashed... and what of Susan? Oh, I dearly wish she remembers this conversation... ah, but she will, I'm certain of it; after the accident, this will surely end up in the catigory of hard-to-forget conversations... one of her last ones with a loved one.

"You'll go and have a lovely time talking about your adventures..." Talking about it as if it were real really disproves Narnia, Su. Good job... :) But as Eustace said, this means that there is hope.

This was very well done. I loved how you kept Eustace and Susan in character, I think Eustace would be especially hard to write. I also really like how Susan denies, but there's still a glimmer of hope because she still believes Aslan was real. Great fic!

The most important part of faith is that first step of not being afraid to believe that something that seems too good to be true, may actually be every bit as wonderful as it looks. Great little one-shot!

This is my absolute favourite TLB fic out of all those I've read so far! It doesn't have Susan running back to Aslan or Aslan magically calling Susan back and both Eustace and Susan are very much in character :D

Post-PC/Post-LB Susan has got to be the one topic I can never, ever pull away from.

Firstly, I absolutely love that you've taken two characters we never even see interacting with each other and thrown them into the same box. Eustace is quick-talking and blunt, in line with what we know of him, and Susan is rather poised and ultimately kind, which is also keeping with what we know of her. But to see them together is a treat and a challenge, which you've pulled off brilliantly. The ending is so painful, knowing what's going to come. Really, really well done.

this was one of the most beautiful pieces of work i have ever read. i hate how everyone tends to resent susan for turning her back on narnia, but the way you wrote this was just absolutely perfect. at first it was weird cause it was eustace rather than her brothers or sister, but he would be the person to talk to her. because he knows what she's going through now, and knows what she's trying to forget. that bit about aslan was beautiful, and i love that you had susan say what she did. great job!
