Author has written 14 stories for He-Man, Smallville, Forever Knight, X-Files, and Border. I'm a college graduate with degrees in film and ethnic studies. Talk about two completely useless degrees huh. I'd frowned upon fic for many years as a mediocre medium by mediocre writers but I've been a gleeful reader of fic since 2000 when I finally bit the bullet and checked out some fic recommendations at a popular, then up-to-date X-Files site. What I found was a community of authors and readers who were not only supportive of one another but had a great love for what they did and whose writing rivaled that of several published authors. I've recently starting cheating on my XF fic (shhhhhh!) with a fandom that could not be more different yet at the same times shares some parallels. Curiousity got the better of me one day and I started testing the waters of the He-Man/She-Ra fandom--an old childhood love. I remain an ardent reader and re-reader of my X-Files fic but I'm enjoying the uncharted territory of the Masters of the Universe fandom. On a more recent note, a class assignment, a pre-existing Lois & Clark affinity, and a desire to not do the same ol' X-Files schtick led me to Smallville. The WB shows are definitely NOT my thing and it was supposed to be a quick impartial observer assignment but damn it the show hooked me, especially Lois Lane. I'm seriously pounding my head at the ludicriousness of Clark's long over used obsession with Lana. Their relationship on the show should have signified innocence, optimism, and friendship and aside from some promising moments I feel that it's been mostly deception, fear, and mistrust. I mostly stick to Clois fic but any interesting general Smallville story tends to also catch my eye. I am a fan of all characters warts and all. And on another more recent note, the fandom where I'm producing most of my fannish material right now is the early 90s Canadian vampire cop series Forever Knight. I'd stepped away to pursue The X-Files after it was over but after purchasing the DVDs my love for this series came back with a vengeance. For a show may on a shoe string budget it holds up amazingly well. I'm completely enthralled with this series. However that's not to say that my love for my other fandoms has tapered off. Favorite Shows: The X-Files, Smallville, Deadwood, Friday Night Lights, Forever Knight, 24, Rome, Masters of the Universe, Quantum Leap, Roswell, Being Human, Doctor Who, Gilmore Girls Fandoms where I read fic: The X-Files, Smallville, Masters of the Universe, Forever Knight, Doctor Who, Gilmore Girls Livejournal http:/// Stories (Updated 04/29/2010) Ongoing stories and stories posted with 'M' rating filter When Fates Collide: I've been working on a WIP Masters of the Universe fic titled "When Fates Collide" that is basically a re-imagining of how Adora comes to embrace her destiny as a champion of Grayskull (as if we haven't seen those before). It's been in the works since October 2005 and I've got a collection of scenes and dialogue snippets spanning the entire length of the story. I do have an outline of where I want things to go. If you're curious, almost all of the Masters stories in my favorites list give a pretty good indication of the route I'm taking with it. I write when the muse hits and I don't force it. STATUS: It's been forever since I've updated this story and as I work on stories for other fandoms this one continues to gnaw at the back of my mind. The lack of updates really bothers me and I do apologize to those readers who have been following the story. The focus of the story will now shift entirely to Etheria and some of you may have noticed a parallel with the multi part She-Ra series opener/movie 'The Secret of the Sword'. There will be some similarities for the next 3 or 4 chapters or so before it eventually diverges into something much different. The main hold up on this story has been that the muse has chosen to whisper Forever Knight stories into my ear and what the muse wants the muse gets. I hate to see the months go by and for this story to be stuck in limbo. For those who are reading this story please know that I have every intention of finishing it and I will not leave readers hanging. Lost and Found: A Smallville story that is a Lois POV 'Crusade' missing scene. STATUS: The first part of this story is complete and has been posted. The second part is pretty much non-existent due to writer's block. It's supposed to be the car drive from the corn field to the Smallville Medical Center. The first part can for the most part stand alone but I really don't want to abandon the second half. What Would Happen: Forever Knight/Smallville crossover--An assignment in Toronto and a poorly placed coffee shop display leads to a chance meeting between Clark Kent and Natalie Lambert. The result is a moment in time that gives them each a brief reprieve from their demanding, complicated lives. STATUS: Written for a porn challenge on livejournal, it was an unusual pairing given the time difference for the shows, so I chose to completely disregard it to make the characters more age appropriate for each other, although that's not to say this story couldn't have gone in a more Mrs. Robinson-type direction. It's the first time I've actually posted smut so I'm a bit apprehensive about this story. And because of the subject matter I'm not sure if would allow it here so you can find this completed story at my lifejournal under the tag 'my fic' or at my website. Illusions of Mortality: A Forever Knight story set five years after the series finale "Last Knight". It is a DarkNick/Natalie story that focus on the transference of thoughts, emotions, and memories when a vampire takes blood. STATUS: Written for a porn challenge on livejournal back in late January 2009, this story was not posted to because I felt it might not be appropriate here. However, after revisiting the story I felt it was tame enough to be posted. It does have the 'M' Mature rating. In working stages Untitled Smallville story: I have a short untitled Clark-centric Smallville fic in the works. It's a Journalism!Clark fic. Hopefully that can get out sooner rather than later. If things work out maybe it'll turn into a series of three, following Clark, Lois, and Perry individually. STATUS: I've managed to write a little more on this story but it's still nowhere near completion. What I initially had I wrote in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep so it's really just a collection of dialogue and observations I had to get down before I forget them. I've got a quasi outline of what I want the story to achieve but it isn't definite. I would love to get some headway on this because it addresses some things I need to get off my chest but it's being stubborn. When my main focus finally shifts towards When Fates Collide I really want this fic to share in the love because I've got a few issues with Smallville right now in regards to Clark and finishing this would be really cathartic. Things We Lost in the Fire: The genesis of this Forever Knight story is from a screen grab I saw of Geraint Wyn Davies (Nick) from his guest starring stint on season 5 of 24. I was struck by how much the image reminded me of an older Nick standing by one of the windows in the loft. What I wanted to do was tell the story of that image. This is the story of Nick, the loft, and the events that have transpired there, told through a series of vignettes interweaving with Nick's present. STATUS: This story isn't done but it is very close to being so. It's been the preferred child because the effects of my Forever Knight DVD bender remain strong and this is where the muse has settled. This story is a bit on the melancholic side but it has a healthy dose of Nick/Nat for the NNPackers out there. Break So Easy: It's the summer of 1978 and young Natalie Lambert is looking forward to a lazy summer with friends, eyeing a girlhood crush from afar, attending math camp at school, and answering her little brother's constant influx of questions. Little did she know that the summer of 78 was going to be the summer her life took an unexpected change. This pre-Forever Knight story is a collection of vignettes and my interpretation of the events that lead up to a defining moment in Natalie and Richard Lambert's lives. STATUS: This story isn't complete but along with "Things We Lost in the Fire" was on the receiving end of the muse for a while. All the major elements are done but there are a few character moments that I want to address. They aren't many but I feel they're necessary when doing a story about Natalie's childhood, her family, and this particular event. Petrified to be God-like: There's a line in one of my favorite Forever Knight stories about Natalie not being the innocent Nick believes her to be. That's a concept that really struck me because 'Nick' could easily be replaced with 'the audience'. Natalie is portrayed in a certain way. It can range from dedicated career woman to forbidden love interest to placeholder for humanity to isolated and lonely. While her portrayal never reached the level of asexuality of Scully on The X-Files it was certainly depicted with the same parameters. Nick, being a vampire, is sexually unavailable leaving Natalie, his potential love interest, floundering on her own. What I'd like to do with this story is explore Natalie away from Nick, away from the search for his cure, and from the idea that Nick sometimes places her on pedestal but at the same time acknowledging that she allows Nick to play a very big role in her life. This idea has been bouncing around in my head for a while but I was motivated to put something down after I read a Smallville story about Lana Lang and the preconceptions people have about her. STATUS: This story is still in its very early stages. I know what I want to accomplish with it but I've got several directions I could take it. I've kind of hit a brick wall with my Forever Knight stories and I think I'm probably going to have to have an FK DVD marathon to help break through. Also, if what I've written so far stays in the final product then there's a chance that this story won't get posted here because of adult content. Twenty-Five Minutes: A Captain Amanda Cohen POV story set before the season 2 opener. Captain Cohen takes her young daughter to her first day of school where complications cause a delay. STATUS: Written for a challenge, this story was posted to make deadline at the challenge site but not elsewhere. It is still being reworked to include more Forever Knight allusions. Flight of the Imagination: A pre-series Forever Knight story. A distant but curious Nick tries to fit Natalie into his life while maintaining the professional distance he's requiring from her. STATUS: Written for a porn challenge on livejournal, this story has been set aside to be worked slightly. However because of it's content it will only be posted at my livejournal. untitled: A Forever Knight/The Border crossover. In 2007 Maggie Norton ended up splashed across television sets nationwide during a very delicate case. Fifteen years prior, Maggie Norton wanted to give Natalie Lambert a piece of her mind for what she viewed as her role in bringing down her cousin's campaign for Toronto mayor. She too had a television news blunder. With the shoe now on the other foot Maggie recalls her reactions to Natalie in light of her own brush with the TV cameras. STATUS: A first draft is almost complete but requires some additional viewings of The Border to get Maggie a bit more to my liking. untitled: A Forever Knight story set thirteen years after the events of "Last Knight". Captains Reese and Stonetree have a conversation at the retirement party of a colleague and reminisce on the lives lost thirteen years prior. STATUS: Written in answer to a suggestion on livejournal that Forever Knight fans write a series of 13 stories that tell "how life went on" in the wake of the events from the series finale. The number thirteen was selected to reflect the thirteen years that had elapsed since the series ended. I couldn't get the story done in time for the anniversary so I'll slowly work on it for the 14th anniversary in 2010. when your blood is gone, how will you suvive?: A Forever Knight story that focuses on the friendship, familial bonds, and the father/son relationship between Nick and LaCroix. STATUS: Written for a challenge on livejournal, this story is complete but I'm still tweaking it a bit. the fall rolled in on the back of summer: A Forever Knight story in which on a much-needed vacation that he had to be persuaded to take, Nick runs into Rebecca from "Dying for Fame" in her new life. STATUS: Written for a challenge on livejournal, this story is complete but I'm still tweaking it a bit. a death, a proclamation: A Forever Knight AU story set before season 1. Nick is mortal and comes to Toronto on an investigation. He crosses paths with mortals and vampires alike. STATUS: This story was written for a scifi big bang on livejournal. The story is complete but being edited. It clocks in at just over 25,000 words. |
