And I'm obsessed with Avatar: The Last Airbender.

I never intended to write fanfiction. That was something my more artistically-talented friends did - and while I envied them, I never expected to actually come to a moment where reading and writing fanfiction became hobbies.

So, I guess I should start by saying I was an original fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender when it originally started airing back in 2005, but sadly, I was a middle-school bookworm/nerd and strayed away from animated shows shortly after. Oh, I caught a few episodes here and there during the second and third seasons, but I guess I felt embarrassed by the thought of my parents catching me watching a "children's cartoon," so I didn't give them any more than a passing glance (don't throw tomato-carrots or other fruits/vegetables at me, I was young and ignorant of the show's beauty then. . .).

Then came college. Nearing the end of my third semester of studies, a friend showed me the first episode of The Legend of Korra (which I remember seeing pieces of when it first aired just a few months prior, but like its predecessor series, I paid it little attention). Needless to say, after watching the entire thing, and being overcome with feels, I was hooked. I watched all twelve episodes of LoK on Nickelodeon's websites and was frantic to re-watch the original series. I then proceeded to watch all sixty-one episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender in less than a week.

Then came the shipping. Or the shipping came while I was getting interested in the show again/re-watching it. Or the shipping was always there - I don't know. Never in my life did I expect to feel so strongly about the personal lives of fictional characters - but with the endearing and complex characters of AtLA, I got sucked right in.

Congratulations, Avatar (and its fandom), you've managed to turn a 20-something science-major into an obsessed Kataanger. And now, I'm reading and writing Kataang-oriented stories filled with so much romance and fluff I can barely breathe sometimes. As a man in my early twenties, this is definitely not what I envisioned I'd be doing during my college years. . .

Right now, I've got a number of stories I'm currently working on and countless other ideas in the works (though work and real-life keep getting in the way). I hope to start posting stories soon, but until then, Flameo Hotmen!
