Playing With Fire (poem)

The flames are burning,
All through the house
There is no way to escape them,
Unless you wish to leap
Three stories down
And make a great leap with your feet

The flames continue to burn,
Demolishing everything in it’s path
It’s eerie yet beautiful as it continue on
Destroying everything in it’s sight

You’ll be lucky if you get out of here alive

As the embers grow closer you wish that you were anywhere else
But you know that maybe this for the best
The flames are almost there, closer to your bare feet
Shut your eyes dear child and try not to scream

For all your struggles it looks grim
Because Death is coming to help you along until the end
The flames are growing and attacking your flesh,
Don’t be afraid you’ll be okay and soon join the rest

The sirens can be heard in the distant but it is too late
Your body is nearly gone and nothing will be left

There lays a lone hand slowly being burnt away with the fire
