Poll: I'm on a "Harry Potter" kick with too many plot bunnies. As always, I don't promise to write any of these, let alone the one that wins this poll; that being said, which of these long story ideas intrigues you the most? Choose up to 2 options. Vote Now!

Pretty dead these days, and it's not like I was ever very good at art anyway. Tumblr Accounts: JoeMerl Political/Philosophical Bent/Overly-simplistic opinions on complex social issues: Why do people put these in their profiles? Just to alienate people who might otherwise read their stories? Current Avatar: Dib and Membrane from Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus. Characters I Tend To Write: Ridiculously cheery people, under-appreciated sidekicks and well-written villains. I also like taking very minor characters and creating my own versions of them, since you have a nice framework to use while still having room for creativity. My stories are usually more character-driven than plot-driven; many of my fics are less "stories" and more just a character's train of thought about a certain issue or event. My Thoughts on Plotlines: I get most inspired by things I don't like; my stories are often rewrites or different perspectives on things from canon/fanon that annoy me. I try to stick to canon unless breaking from it is important to the story, and even my AUs largely follow the same basic outline of the "real" version. I mostly write one-shots and short story collections, but I'd like to get around to doing more long fics. My Thoughts on Pairings: My favorite ships are usually the "opposites attract" variety, but I hate when people try to achieve this through OOCness. My writing is pretty much confined to het. Pairings in my stories often feel vaguely on the line between romantic or platonic, or build up ridiculously slowly. I've written a lot of crack pairings, because it's a fun challenge to try and make them make sense. |
