*Updated* Daryl recalls a bad memory from his teenage years when Carol interrupts his thoughts. Set between seasons 2 and 3 and into season 3. Rated M for sexual reasons. The title is based off the Bruce Springsteen song "Spirit of the Night."

The group is held captive by a team of researchers hoping to acquire information on how they have survived for so long. After being uncooperative with the researcher, Daryl is given a drug which forces him to talk. This drug is still in effect when he is returned to the cell he unknowingly shares with Carol. I'm already experiencing withdrawals. To combat them, I'm writing Caryl fanfic. When Carol has a close encounter with a dangerous foe, Daryl realizes how much he cares for her, and that protecting her is the most important thing to him now. In our darkest hours... that is when we realize what truly matters.

"The time for pleasurable things is over". This story begins mid-S3 as Carol muses over her past and her present, wondering that such a world could still bring unexpected moments of pleasure and joy. This is a story of the hopeful qualities of human nature, and how hope can live side by side with sadness. Primarily Caryl, but general/drama fanfic as well.

Takes place after the events of my Daryl and Carol one shot "Light To Dark". With the pressure the group is under to stay alive - they find there are many discoveries about one another to be made, diamonds in the rough so to speak. I own no rights to TWD, comic book or television show.

When Carol discovers that Daryl can't read, she takes it upon herself to teach him. But when boundaries are crossed, and disaster strikes, it's up to Carol to fix the broken hunter. Rated for mentions of past abuse, violence, torture, and language. Caryl angst/comfort.

"They might as well have been two inexperienced teenagers. Hell, they basically were. Carol stared at him, silently deciding. Then she remembered the dead outside their door, the death of the world they once knew - remembered they could be dead the next day." Daryl/Carol, some fluff, some angst.

She would make him tell her to get lost if that's what he wanted. He didn't want her to opt out. He didn't trust anyone else to make sure she didn't.
