![]() Author has written 8 stories for Skip Beat!, Thursday Next Novels, Haruhi Suzumiya series, xxxHOLiC, Durarara!!/デュラララ!!, Chaos;Head/カオス;ヘッド, and Tsubasa Chronicle. Currently Working On: "Shall Your Wish Be Granted" and "Sun Fortune," both sequels to "In the Eyes of Doumeki Shizuka." There is perhaps one story about Doumeki's life while dressing as a girl before he ever met Watanuki—possibly a Snow White AU—a turn-of-the-century/World War II Japanese America AU—and more about his relationship with Haruka... And I'm working on a book-movie fusion gender-swap AU of Howl's Moving Castle right now. Someday I want to write drabble bits of Loveless and more Durarara and Tokyo Babylon and Parasyte and Natsume Yuujinchou and Honey and Clover and Eden of the East and Hyouka and Kare Kano and Mushishi and Mawaru Penguindrum and Fate/Zero and Arakawa Under the Bridge and Nabari no Ou and Time of Eve and Saint Young Men and Juvenile Remix: Maoh and Natsuyuki Rendezvous and... *runs out of breath* But first I need to finish some stuff... However, given how I've fixated on XxxHolic, that may take a few years. But take heart and be happy. I will be editing and adding to your next fan-fiction piece coming (relatively) soon, and I promise on my honor not to let the plot bunnies take over. I'm pretty good at that. Stay tuned. Personality: According to Myer-Briggs, I am an INTJ. I celebrate the absurdity of life, but I am naturally a very serious person and a perfectionist, so I slide between these extremes depending on my mood. I am inclined to be slightly counter-cultural and perverse, so my excitement level drops pretty quick the moment people tell me that I should be excited — luckily, stick-to-itiveness doesn't vanish as easily. I'm a good listener, but sometimes I struggle to show what I'm feeling on my face. Also, when I am truly focused, I will not "hear," that is, comprehend and take notice of anything you say to me. Better tap my shoulder to get my attention. (Not that any of this matters over the internet!) I do like getting mail. So please review or feel free to PM me and ask about something. I will reply. I want to make my stories better, so if you noticed something interesting, be warned: I will quiz you for details, and be ecstatic about it. Writing Habits: I use long dashes — and parenthetical statements (what, do I or do I not?) and semicolons, when appropriate. Okay, I didn't use any there; but in this sentence, I did. I prefer writing novels over short fiction. I write a lot. In paragraphs. Oh, and did I mention the rampant ellipses...? Ellipses... Due to my newest story, "In the Eyes of Doumeki Shizuka," you have probably figured out that I have nothing against the second tense. I view it as a tricky but viable alternative to first person. YMMV (yet "Eyes" appears slightly more popular than my other work. Hmmm). I have a bad habit of tinkering with my stories, usually by adding stuff. I think I'm done with them, and the chapter goes up, but two days later I've changed something. You may want to reread everything if you've been following me closely for a while. Tweaking usually stops within a month of posting (but not always). If you see a word count increase, then, um, not your imagination. As regards canon usage: I try to write according to what I know to be canon, and I make up what I don't. Reading Habits & Recs: My favorite genre is fantasy, although I am not a fan of the epic type (excepting Inda, Inheritance Cycle, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings). I enjoy a good romance when it is not the entire focus of a character's life. I prefer novels, but over the years I have discovered certain collections of stories that I treasure, like Kelly Link's Pretty Monsters and Firebird imprint's thudding fantasy anthologies. Present publishing market aside, I am sure there is a perfect vampire story somewhere (Sunshine is the best I've got, though), one that doesn't involve a conventional love triangle. If I don't find one, I will write one myself (I have made pathetic stabs). I like graphic novels, but I am very picky about the art. Fables, Calvin & Hobbes, Tintin, Foxtrot, and Asterix & Obelix are my favorite Western comics. I have my issues with Bone, but for the most part I like it. Blankets is a fantastic but heartbreaking standalone. Also Asterios Polyp. Sandman is kind of cool. I am easing my way into superhero stories via X-Men and someday I really ned to track down Hawkeye stories... Lately I've also been following online comics Gunnerkrigg Court, Stand Still Stay Silent (following some magical post-apocalyptic Nordics with troll-zombies), Sfeer Theory (bit of a slow updater but can you say gorgeous art?), Sleepless Domain, and Raruurien. My favorite authors are: Catherine Jinks, Chris D'Lacey, Diane Duane, Diana Wynne Jones, Gerald Morris, Jasper Fforde, Kristin Cashore, Nina Kiriki Hoffman, Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game/Shadow series), Isaac Asimov's robot stories, Robin McKinley, Shannon Hale, Sherwood Smith, Tamora Pierce, Madeleine L'Engle, Megan Whalen Turner, Noriko Ogiwara...and so on and so forth. My reading pace lagged when I entered high school. I read more manga now. I can finish a volume half an hour to an hour, a natural time limit for when one has to start studying and stop reading. |
