Aahhh this is so wonderful! Fantastic work! I love how you wrote Satoru as a character, and the way he's so sweet and such a good friend, while also being well-rounded and believable with how he handles emotions. It's so interesting to see this sort of thing from his point of view. The scene with Matoba facing off against all the youkai who had come for Natsume was especially interesting, because though we as readers have an idea about who would have come/what was happening, there's still this sort of emptiness of not being sure, and that makes it so much easier to imagine what Satoru must be feeling. I can almost see the walls exploding inwards, the dramatic moment of Natsume offering his hand for Satoru to grab. It's all amazing! I'm so glad that Natsume found another person he can trust, and who won't reject him, in this fic.

Eeeeee! This. Is. Awesome! No, really, it is. I've always loved the friendship Natsume had with Kitamoto and Satoru. And you upped it. Satoru gets to know Natsume's real life. I thought you did it so very, very well. Figures it would be Matoba who brought it all to a head (the creep). Only he would nab someone's friend to blackmail them into joining the clan. Satoru handled it all so well! He was just...just...gah! There ain't enough words to truly express how amazing Satoru was.

So...sequels?

One where Kitamoto is told, as are Touko and Shigeru (I vote Shigeru goes all BAMF father mode). Then another one shot where Matoba tries something (I vote whump on Natsume).

Nishimura was always a dull character to me, so the way you used him really made him more interesting.
