letmeupme chapter 11 . 10/3/2010 I'm having dashimaki tamago for dinner tonight: not only because I love the dish, but also because I felt it to be a polar existence to the oni-baba in "the Price." The oni-baba is hurtful, the ever hungry villain / victim. When rbought into contact with her, Doumeki and Watanuki are forced to different actions, different decision-making processes and a different interaction. Both the individual and the group (of two) are changed by her presence. While the dashimaki tamago is a much more passive actor, it also affected the two characters. Whereas the oni-baba brought change, the eggs bring a new stability, temporary as it might be. The fact that it is a comfort food probably doesn't hurt. It seemed to me that the eggs represent Watanuki and Doumeki moving another step forward with the simple process of asking and giving, another invisible bond (of the "enishi"-type) binding them together in a new normalcy- a new 'after-oni-baba' era. Rereading this review, I know I sound silly citing enishi to explain my fixation with eggs. So I'll add on just a bit more if you don't mind. Lovely as always flacedice! |
aisty chapter 11 . 8/26/2010 Perfect! this is what I've been waiting for! (slight spoiler) Ever since Watanuki lost his old cheerful self and became quite cold/mean in his words toward Doumeki, I wanted something that would set the record straight in my mind, that Watanuki still cares (or more than just cares) about Doumeki. I am a fan who believes their "special relationship" (though undefined) is canon, especially since by chapter 205, "a new story begins" for the two of them this time. I hope it end well. In the meantime, write more beautiful stories! |
BRYtheSouleaterFan chapter 11 . 8/24/2010 a beautifully written and touching story that really shows their friendship! awesome job! D |
InkWave chapter 11 . 8/22/2010 This was fantastic. I had totally been looking for a Watanuki as the owner of the shop fanfic. It seems like their aren't a lot but that is also more recent. I thought that you did a great job with the concept, paying the price for what you had taken. It was also fantastic to see how Watanuki had changed and changed more so that he would get Doumeki back. |
this-account-'s-very-dead chapter 11 . 8/8/2010 oh this was nice to read even if i did feel bad for all the pain Doumeki had to go through. |
