Author has written 17 stories for Harry Potter, StarTrek: Enterprise, Inception, and Hobbit. I am not a poet (good lord, I'd be hopeless at it. I don't get mushy enough about sunsets, or something I guess), however, I do enjoy select poetry, and have collected a few pieces over the years that I find inspiring in my writing for various reasons - Anything that helps, at 3am, when the coffee in the pot has run out! Logicians have but ill defined ~ Oliver Goldsmith~ Now for the more mundane part of the bio - I have been writing creatively for what seems to be a (very) long time now, and find it to be a stress reliever. (Twitch? What twitch...) I admit to writing things that I like to read, not necessarily what other people may enjoy - Though I love the feeling of seeing someone laugh at something I wrote, or of finding that an observation made in one of my pieces made them think, or see something they may have missed before - If you could patent and bottle that feeling, who would need anything else? I am a wife, and mother of one, so this means my writing schedule must play second fiddle to my life commitments - though I have them all pretty well trained when I am in writing mode *lol* My husband, amazing man that he is, is awesome about picking up the slack for me when I manage to get 'in the zone', and start ignoring the fact that people usually need to eat now and again, or that the vacuum should be run once in a while. I am an (insanely!) avid reader; I read voraciously, almost everything that comes across my path, but the works of Rex Stout and David Eddings, will always hold a special place in my heart. Right now, I am in love with Mr Penumbra's 24 Hour Book Store - a fairly light read with humour and a smidge of social commentary, that just hit all my buttons :) I'm an artist of sorts (Disclaimer: Claims of the authoress to be an artist are purely in her head, and any claims to talent should be strictly ignored, for her own good. Remember, when dealing with the paranoid delusional, just smile and nod boys and girls. And when that doesn't work - Run. Just run.), I enjoy Japanese ink painting, sketching (pencil and charcoal, primarily; a high school art teacher once told me I had no sensitivity for paints ;p ) and occasionally clay and soapstone. I love to watch movies, especially old Fred Astaire films, but I can probably trace most of my early creative influence to Jim Henderson's The Labyrinth. It was the first time I really understood that you didn't have to colour within the lines, and I never ever looked back. I am an abysmal speller - as I'm sure you have already noticed. Viva le Spell Checker, Her Majesty's most prized possession! I am Canadian, and I live about an hour out of Toronto. (I wish sometimes it was farther - I really hate the traffic) I collect classic children's (well, all classics, really) books in old hard cover editions. Not necessarily valuable, or unique, just ones that have been well used with those beautiful cloth and leather covers and the 'old book' smell. I have an old cloth copy of The Nutcracker, that I re-read every Christmas Eve. I'm an avid Final Fantasy player, going way back to the very first one, which was released while I was in grade school. I would probably play more video games than just this franchise, if I had more time between my responsibilities and all my other hobbies :-p I have to admit, Tidus was a great character, but Balthier was the best by far. I have a great interest in Archeology and am especially interested in ancient Mesopotamia. I have a secret love for Medieval history. I also have a closet interest in Astrology, but try not to let my inner flake out too often *grins* Feel free to contact me at the address above - I always like suggestions and comments, as long as they are sincere; or drop by my LiveJournal and shout out to me. |
