Author has written 4 stories for Labyrinth, and Harry Potter. Update: Some time in March, 2013. I am still back. Again... Thanks to all of you who have been reviewing in my absence! Go get yourself a cookie! Meet Me At the Faire, is the story of Bill and Katrin. Sequel to Falling. Or is Falling a prequel? I forget... By the by, in case you are one who questions this and finds yourself here, I don't mind when those of you do the hard math and figure out the time frame of these stories in "real time". But I'm just throwing it out there that it doesn't matter here. Think of it as "Contemporary" and let it go. Your head will hurt less. I know mine did once I let it go. And I have a hard time with that sort of thing! lol :D 17 March, 2013: From the very beginning, there have been several dilemmas in regards to the writing of this story that have made it difficult to progress. Namely the extent to which I deviate from canon. Writing out Fleur was simple enough; I didn't care too much for her when I first encountered her in the books, but when she and Bill got together it really chapped my hide. Especially since I started this story in 2002, years before Book 6 was published (2005). But how much will I change of the rest? Molly's resentment toward Bill's choice in mate (I've mostly worked this one out)? The fate of Sirius Black? Bill's werewolf encounter (though I almost have that one pegged)? The attack at the wedding? Even the fate of Fenrir Greyback? None of these sit lightly. And I have come up with so many different solutions for all of them, each as intriguing to me as the next. And writing it out, posting it in a chapter makes it all so final. It is a little bit scary every time I encounter a Rowling's character other than Bill or a scenario not of my making. After all, many fan fictions are entirely based around the premise of an alternate universe, that ever-present "what if?" that we all ask. I always meant this as a companion piece to the books, telling a part of the story we never see rather than changing the original story to suit my desires. But sometimes I am sorely tempted to 'fix' the things that make me go, 'Argh!!!' Thank you all for your support in these challenges. Falling is another Jareth and Sarah story. Takes place... I forget. And my antibiotics are interfering with my ability to do math. Starts immediately after the film, quickly fast-forward many years. March 2012: In other news, having re-read Falling, and remembering where I was in life when I started it, I realized just how much I have put of myself into these stories. It was rather an exhausting experience, but a joyous one. It is one of those odd little things to think about and I have considered how much being in such a different mental space (and a happier one, really) has affected my ability to crank out chapters like I used to. Of course, I also have more things to do than avoid writing term papers and dissertations... P&P at Hogwarts remains fluff that I have little emotional attachment to. Thank goodness; I do not know if I could handle a third story constantly running around in my head. I am contemplating un-publishing it until such a time as I choose to revisit it, especially since it has few reviews and fewer followers (something I am comfortable with, believe me). But, eh. We'll see. Cheers, J- |
