For Soda Curtis, life was always supposed to be a journey, but never a simple one.

Ponyboy isn't the only Curtis with a story to tell.

Darry has always been a protective big brother, but in 'The Outsiders' we didn't get to see much of that side of the oldest Curtis brother; this is my general idea of what the Curtis' life looked like before 'shit hit the fan'. Pony wasn't really sure what was wrong with him. The gang was complaining that his head was in the clouds more often and when he thought about it, there were gaps in his memory. [STORY ON HIATUS] On December 1st, 1969, all the Greasers gathered around the Curtis' little black and white television in order to witness a historic event. The assigning of numbers for the draft in order to aid the war in Vietnam. Little did they know just how much this would change the course of all their lives and how these simple numbers would define so much of their lives.

Soda lands in the ER tonight, but he doesn't really mind.

After the first date, he hates her. He hates her habit of brushing her soft, blonde hair out of her eyes, the way she nervously bites her lip, and her blue eyes looking at him all timid and sweet. Not only did he have to keep what one of his kisses could do, he had to keep his relationship with a Soc a secret, a male Soc. This is from my suggested stories prompt. Soda goes to war and Pony and Darry get a letter saying he is dead. Then, one day Soda shows turns up at the door and it turns out that in the confusion, the letter about Sodapop's death was sent even though he was not dead.

I remember my old life, but what am I supposed to do with these memories? I guess they might make me more interesting than the average greaser... and give me a lot of trouble and pain. Especially now that I'm five with a six year old brother named Johnny Cade. (GEN)

However, when Ponyboy gets dangerously close to the brothers' secret, its Katie who pays the price. Tired of her life, she begs for Darry to help her out. (Takes place after the book ends)
