Author has written 6 stories for Kingdom Hearts, Pokémon, Fire Emblem, and Fullmetal Alchemist. Hey. I'm latias-likes-pizza. If you have to call me anything, call me Kia. Hang on a sec. Aren't Twisting and Turning and My Daddy the Lion Sklyar Windsong's stories? Who are you? I'm Skylar Windsong. I just needed a name change. I changed my pen name to match my Tumblr URL. Okay. But where are your other stories? Champions League - lost my files for it. Couldn't remember what I had planned and lost inspiration. Was discontinued and I decided to take it down. What's happening with the current ones? Twisting and Turning - complete. The world of Break Us, Reality This is a section dedicated to the world of Break Us, Reality. Within the story itself I can't always take the time in the narrative to explain certain aspects of the world and it's history. This section will explain as much as possible without breaching into spoiler territory. Flare - The Flare Corporation was founded by Octavius Rouge IV in the year 1943 CE (Common Era). The company, like many others of its time, was dedicated to technological innovation and improving global quality of life. Many of it's products such as the Holocaster and Vs Recorder were commonplace items within a trainer's bag and are still used today. The descendants of Octavius continued on as owners and CEOs of the company after his retirement from competitive business. His grandson Aurelius was the one who had the idea to buy out other large companies. Unfortunately he only succeeded in buying the Devon Company before he died of a heart attack. His son Lysandre I continued his work and ultimately had the global market in a stranglehold. Under his control, Flare was able to usurp the governments of multiple regions. They restarted the calendar with what was known as the Flare Era (FE) and Lysandre planted himself as the ruler of the world. The company has continued as the global governing body for the past 250 years, with Lysandre's great-great-grandson (Lysandre Rouge III) continuing the rule of Familie Rouge. Familie Rouge - A family that can trace its lineage back to the days of King Azon of Kalos and is descended directly from Claude Rouge, the Red Knight of King Azon's Table. The family has enjoyed large amounts of wealth for countless generations and made millions off produts grown on their estates. When Octavius Rouge IV created the Flare Corporation their wealth only grew and Lysnadre I only cemented their place in the world, setting them above the rest of the 'Big' families that controlled the business world. Throughout history however, the Rouge family has been implicated in several large conspiracies and crimes. Claude Rouge was known for abusing his power as the Red Knight and was one of the few nobles that actively pushed King Azon into war. Octavius was the prime suspect of his elder brother Julius' murder. The case was dropped however and the death ruled as suicide. Of course, committing suicide by having a Pokémon slice your body open is exceptionally difficult. Aurelius and Lysandre I after him threatened multiple business rivals and ultimately destroyed seveal other Old Families. Lysandre took it even further and orchestrated the genocide of the Draconid people. And the less said about the fates of his children the better... Devon Co/Clan Stone - As was the norm for larger businesses, Devon Co was owned by one of the Old Families, this time one of Hoenn. Clan Stone was a proud family that were descended from minor nobility. The house was founded during the oppression of Hoenn by the Sinnoh Empire. Two powerful Hoenn houses were forbidden to marry by the Sinnoh oppressors. The heirs of the houses did so anyway, forming Clan Stone. The clan was a driving force in the rebellion that freed Hoenn. One of their core principles was to care for those less fortunate than themselves. Generations later, Erik Stone founded Devon Co, based on the principle of making life easier for both humanity and Pokémon. His granddaughter Mimi was forced to sell the company to Lysandre Rouge but she was given a place on the Flare Board and the Hoenn Administrator seat. The family held on to that seat, realising it was their best way of protecting the people whilst trying to find a way to rebel. Unfortunately in recent times, Rick Stone has fallen into disgrace and was forced to go into hiding, relinquishing the Hoenn seat. It is unknown what has happened to him. House Harmonia - Unlike Rouge and Stone, House Harmonia did not own a business per se. Instead they invested their large wealth into various companies, including the Juniper Scientific Group. Dalen Harmonia was given a seat on the Flare Administrators Board when it became clear that his business assets would assist Flare, as well as providing them with a ruthless admin in charge of Unova. House Harmonia never claimed to be descended from any major noble families, again unlike Rouge and Stone. They claimed to have been descended from a merchant family that started up after the Unovan Civil war in 347 EC. Their current head is Ghetsis Harmonia, a shrewd man who has continued to serve the Rouges and Flare by controlling Unova for them. Silph Co/Family Dalfonte - Silph Co was not originally founded by Family Dalfonte. It was instead owned by another family that unfortunately lost the business to the Dalfontes. Under their control, Silph Co had a stranglehold on the Kanto/Johto market. The company was working on creating a modern, mass-produced version of the Burst Hearts when they were bought out by Flare. Family Dalfonte is a fairly young family in comparison to some, only able to trace their lineage back about 100 years before the FE began. The family allegedly has links to old mobster gangs and illegal teams, including the notorius Team Rocket, a terrorist group that was active about 59 years before the FE. Current head of the family, Giovanni Dalfonte, denies such claims. Xerna - Based of the ancient Orre word for 'world', Xerna is the name of the planet. It's believed that Xerna is derived from Xerneas, the Legendary that presided over all life. The world itself has a special life energy that rund throughout it, known as the Lifestream. It's fitting that the ancient Orre word for 'hell' is Yvelt, which seems to be derived from the name of Yvetal, Legendary presiding over death. Church of Xerneas - While the Flare regime has done its best to eradicate all religion in what can only be described as a 'cultural upheaval', many people hung on tight to their beliefs. Possibly one of the most dominant religions of the old world was the Church of Xerneas. The patron deity was Xerneas, whom many called the Legendary of Life. While not many know it, a lot of the teachings were inspired by Draconid teachings that were passed on to a select group of humans that would go on to form the church. The church was most dominant in Kalos and least in Sinnoh, where the equally powerful Church of Adamant (based of teachings that concerned the Creation Legendaries Arceus, Palkia, Dialga, and Giratina) was much more prevalent. Legendaries - The deities of Xerna were known by many names. Some called them gods but the more accepted term is Legendaries. Many different religions accept that the Creator Legendary and subsequent head of the Hall of Origin was Arceus, although said different religions would often pick other patrons to base teachings around. Noteworthy Legendaries include Arceus the Creator, Palkia Ruler of Time and Diaga Ruler of Space, Lugia the Swift (whom was known as the carrier of messages), Xerneas the Lady of Life and Yvetal the Lord of Death, and Mew, Ancestor to All. It's commonly accpeted that Mew was tasked with creating all Pokémon while Arceus created humans to act as stewards. Seeing that humans had faults that would cause them to fail this task, Xerneas and Mew collaborated to create Draconids, the bridge between Pokémon and Humans. It is unknown whether these Legendaries actually exist. Religion - As much as Flare attempts to control all aspects of the world, people will still find faith to be their comfort. Many still believe in the Legendaries and ultimately Flare allowed various religious sects to remain active (a decision that was renowned for great debate within the higher ups. See the small note on the cultural upheaval above). However, under Lysandre III religion is slowly losing favour once more with the Flare Board. Many people take to worshipping at home. Of course, many have started to give up their faith since the Legendaries haven't arrived to save their world. (Author's note - the aspect of religion within the Broken Verse is not meant to be any form of commentary on real world religions. It's merely for the sake of fiction. I hae no qualms against anyone who is religious, irregardless of faith. The way I treat the idea of religion in the Broken Verse is merely for plot reasons and I do not mean to offend. Of course, this is the internet and without a specific notice saying that I'm not trying to make any commentary on the sucject seems to be needed.) Orre - Once a prowd and powerful region, Orre fell into despair shortly before the Flare Era began. Since the region had always been closed off to others, various theories run around as to why it fell into such a state. Possibly the most popular theory is that a super-virus arrived, decimating the population. Flare attempted to take over the region but mostly abandoned it, due to the sheer barreness of the area, another unexplained phenomenom. The Orre ruins now only host a few small outposts inhabited by WARRIORs and officials, with a small handful of civilians that wished to leave the main regions. To the north is the small Holon region. Three Tears - Named after relics from Almian legend, Three Tears was one of countless rebel organisations that rose up at some point in the FE. The leader of the rebellion, oddly enough, was an old woman named Erma. The remaining 'Tears' as the the three leaders were called have fallen into obscurity, remembered only by the three survivors of the rebellion's destruction. The Three Tears is credited with the creation of HU-1K, a deadly serum that was originally meant to assist weaker Pokémon. The name of its creator has only been given as Bruce. The destruction of Three Tears has led to a stranglehold on Almia. Prism Tower - The Prism Tower is an impressive structure located directly in the centre of the Lumiose City in Kalos. It is the hub of all Flare operations. Boasting large offices, floors dedicated entirely for WARRIOR and the Talons, a lab, and of course the Rouge Penthouse. The building itself also extends somewhat into the underground, linking to the Pits, the infamous prison underneath the Lumiose plate. Any questions feel free to shoot me a PM. Follow me on Tumblr.
