![]() Author has written 1 story for Harry Potter. I've been a fan of Harry Potter for many years now. I resisted as long as I could, knowing that once I read the books I would definitely get sucked in. But that is a whole other story entirely. That genie is out of the bottle, and can no longer be returned. As I read the books I thought wow here is a world that in many ways, J.K. Rowling just barely scratched the surface of what was possible. Things like polyjuice potions, time turners and Animagus are a few things that I thought could be expanded on. How would these things effect Harry's life if he or someone else dabbled a bit deeper into them. How would that effect things? Would it take Harry in a completely different direction. Allow him to escape his sometimes much hated famous life as Harry Potter. Even if the polyjuice potion is hard to make, Harry could always buy some. And if he had some would he use it to become someone else. For even a short time, when his life got difficult. How long would it take to test it's limits? Explore a young male's curiosity about the opposite sex? After all in the seventh book we see it's possible for Hermione and Fleur to change into Harry. So why wouldn't he or someone else wonder about it? I also thought about how the polyjuice potion works. Would it somehow be possible to make it last longer than the usual hour. The only two examples of someone not changing back after the hour were Hermione and Barty Crouch Junior. The reason Hermione didn't change back, was she accidentally used a cats hair, instead of the Slytherin girl she was planning on. What does this tell us about Polyjuice Potion. That a partial animal transformation is possible. And the effects don't wear off after the hour. So if Hermione wasn't treated, would she be stuck like that? Would she continue to change more and more, until she be came a cat completely? Or how about if the doses got mixed up and Harry or Ron drank it and turned into the half cat half human? Maybe the cat was female? Would Harry or Ron then turn into a catgirl? Or maybe it was the right hair from the Slytherin girl. But the doses still got mixed up. And Harry turned into the Slytherin girl. Call me weird but I wonder about these things. They certainly seem to be possible, in the world of Harry Potter. The other example of Barty Crouch Jr. is easy to explain. He was able to continue to stay in Moody's form longer than an hour. Because he took repeated doses of Polyjuice, before the hour was up. This basically reset the time he would remain in Moody's form. Logical yes, but for nearly a whole school year. Now that's not very practical. Anyways it was these and other thoughts that lead to the story below. Title "To Walk A Mile In someone else's Shoes" |
