![]() Author has written 316 stories for NCIS, Numb3rs, Discworld, and NCIS: Los Angeles. About me: I'm an NCIS fan. I watched the show from season 2 to the beginning of season 12 when I could no longer stomach the melodramatic storylines, canon inconsistencies and unnecessary character deaths. However, I still love the characters and essence of the show so I'm still writing fanfiction. I am a major McGee fan and most of my stories feature him since he's the one I most identify with. In my real life, I'm looking for a job so that I can finally be independent. I write these stories when I can't focus on my other work or when I am in desperate need of a break... and I have a few stories. I only post them when they're done. Reviews are always welcome, and I appreciate anything to help me write better. What I write: Mostly McGee stuff, although the rest of team will generally be there as well. As I mentioned above, I love him. He's my favorite character and the whole reason I stuck with the show as long as I did, but I also like most of the other characters and I love Stan Burley. He's my favorite recurring character. I try to write stories with intriguing plots and mysteries. There will usually be an element of angst because it's cathartic for me. I don't mind dealing with serious subjects. I think that light and fluffy has its place, but so does dark and brooding. Usually, though, I'll have happy endings because I don't see the point of dragging someone through the pits of despair if they're not going to get out eventually. Maybe it's not like real life, but that's not why I write, nor is it why I read. I used to say that I'd never write character deaths...I have to amend that statement...a number of times. I have now written major characters deaths...several, in fact. I always put a warning in the story, however; so you shouldn't be caught unawares. What I don't write: I used to say that I'd never write romance... well, I've delved into it a few times now (nearly always at the behest of someone else, but that's another story). Still, it's not my major focus and I feel much more comfortable with writing friendships... so that's still the norm. I also don't do slash. Period. I won't go there. If that's your thing, you won't find it in anything I write. In connection with the above statements, I also don't write sex. Again, I won't go there. Personal Fanon: There are a few OCs who have become entrenched in my stories. They will show up off and on in fics, sometimes with large roles sometimes only cameos, but they do show up. So...I'm going to give a quick rundown of who they are. Note: these are characters I have made up. They are not actual characters on the show (and we've met Tim's dad in recent years...and I was disappointed by the majorly overdone daddy issues they foisted off on Tim; so I won't give up my fanon family completely. I like them too much.) Sam McGee: The father of Tim McGee. He is in a wheelchair, paralyzed from the waist down. His paralysis is a result of the car accident Tim was in when he received a Camaro on his 16th birthday (as mentioned in season 2). Tim was driving and his dad was the passenger. This has been a source of a small degree of guilt on Tim's part ever since. Sam is an English professor at a smallish college in Ohio and has a great memory for famous quotes. He can think of a quotation for every occasion. He was first introduced in the oneshot Only an Accident and if you would like the details of what happened, please read that. There is one modification from that story. In Only an Accident, Sam says he was never in the military. Well, in season 6, Tim says that his dad was in the Navy...but I'm unwilling to give up my fanon until I have to...so I modified Sam's history to make him a former Navy man turned English professor. You can see some of the details in Finding a Way. I have finally told Sam's story in an extremely long story entitled Non sibi, sed patri. Naomi McGee: The mother of Tim McGee. She is tall with graying auburn hair. She is stern, practical and doesn't like showing her emotions to strangers. She had considered becoming a lawyer but decided to focus on raising Tim...and then Sarah when she came along. She loves her whole family and only really gets angry when one of them is threatened. She was first introduced in Only an Accident. You can find out a lot more about Naomi in Non sibi, sed patri. Sometimes, I wonder if I need to give her some time in the spotlight. :) Agent Robert Lovitz: Another NCIS agent. He heads a team which operates out of NCIS headquarters. He's older, like Gibbs, but much less gruff. Agent Lara Miller: One of the agents on Lovitz' team. She is nondescript, with a soft voice that belies her skills. She is confident, both of her abilities as an agent and her abilities as a woman. She was first introduced in The Victim(s). Agent Geri Weaver: The senior agent on Lovitz' team. She is essentially impossible to intimidate (and that includes Gibbs). She's in her late forties and has plenty of experience as an NCIS agent. She was first introduced in Death and Destruction. Agent Adam Saunders: The junior agent on Lovitz' team. He is a bit nervous still, but has the potential to go far. He's often glad that he isn't on Gibbs' team. He was first introduced in Death and Destruction. In addition to these characters, there are a few names that come up a lot. They're characters I've made up and I just make use of them in bit parts. They include Melanie (Tim's neighbor), Matthias Terrenton (a ZNN reporter) and Henry (the NCIS headquarters security guard). Update 13 April 2020: Again, it's been a while since I've done an update, and one of my readers asked for one. So here goes: I'm still working on two WIPs. First is the 8th CIA story, currently entitled Obsolete or Dead. Second is an 8th road trip currently entitled Southern Detour. I am almost done with the Road Trip story. I should start posting in a week or so. The CIA story is perhaps half done and still no completion date. My job is carrying on through the pandemic but rather altered in form. Very stressful but I'm glad I have it. But I also have multiple story ideas percolating which include a suspense/supernatural story inspired by an ancient Egyptian coffin I saw in the British Museum, a story based on my oneshot Mac, and a possible rewrite of the whole Dearing debacle (and it started so well). I don't know if I'll ever get to them, but they're hovering in the background. In addition, one part of my writing that has fallen by the wayside since I stopped watching the show is oneshots. I just don't get oneshot story ideas very often anymore because so much of what I write is now AU. So if you have a oneshot idea that you'd like to pitch to me, I'd be happy to see if I could do it (making no guarantees). |
