" -Jesse Jackson Known as: Marlo Hayes "Death? Why this fuss about death. Use your imagination, try to visualize a world without death! ... Death is the essential condition of life, not an evil." -Charlotte Perkins Gilman "All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing." -Edmund Burke "Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all -- the apathy of human beings." -Helen Keller "It is a sin to believe evil of others, but it is seldom a mistake." -H. L. Mencken Check out my friend's stories. They are pretty well written and have recieved plenty of praise. Victoria F. Dawkins NOTE: All my stories are dedicated to a friend of mine that had passed away May 2006. He was hit by a car and died in the hospital. Some of my reviewers make me feel a lot better about the sad tone of my writing, so therefore I either dedicate a chapter or do a secondary dedication of a story. These are very privilaged dedications and only go out to those who have eithr inspired me or made me feel better in some way. Secondary story dedications are the highest honor in my book. Good Stories should have: Plots: Either a story should have an unique plot or a very different view on a common plot. I find that the plot always has to keep moving, or else most readers loose interest. Yes, long descriptions can be very well written, but take up too much of the story. Plus, one should have actions during conversations and not only the dialouge. OCs: I find it great to keep original characters in a story. However, introducing one of your own might catch a reader's eye and interest them even more. OCs should be believable and not always perfect. Have them make mistakes once in a while. Plus, the OC should fit the time period of that the story takes place in and should have real emotions. Emotions: Characters (original or OC) should react to situations with real emotions. Don't make them a robot and please don't make them over emotional. Think about how that specific character would react to something before you start writing a scene. Humor: Almost every story has a tad bit of humor in it. Rather its a whole story or just a few words in a sentence. To have the reader laugh once in a while about something is a great way to keep them interested. Some stories have a dreary mood to them throughout the entire story, however a small joke here or there would bring the reader out of that set mood for just a bit. It also makes a great way to lead to a tragedy scene. Like if a few friends were joking around at one moment, then their life is turned upside down the next. Remeber, these are just a few of my opinions. I don't know everything there is to writing, but this is what I feel makes up a good story. Please take these tips into concideration and suggest some to me if you wish. Thank-you.
