Author has written 3 stories for Harry Potter, Naruto, Persona Series, Mass Effect, and Inheritance Cycle. If you can't stand it when someone pokes fun at you, I will probably not have much respect for you. A sense of humor is healthy. Seriously. Proud member of: The Dreamers (You'll find great authors and stories in this community, should you be searching for good works to read). If you feel like chatting with me, I usually hang out at this forum called Atrium: Here is the link (Obviously it's an external link, consider it disclaimed, blah blah blah). Beta Notice:A couple of people have asked me why chapters tend to contain a few errors in them considering I myself am a beta. The answer's quite simple. When I act as a beta, I use a particular perspective when looking at a story. And authors I've beta'd for will tend to agree, I think, that I let very few errors past me when I read something as a beta. But when I write, the perspective I use is totally different. Balancing plots, characters and the other components that go with writing takes up all my attention. And I'm afraid I'm not capable of switching perspectives such that one minute I look at a story as a writer, and the next minute as a beta. So, you will indeed find a few errors in my story if I don't have a beta reading through my work. But on the whole, the number of errors you find will still be minimal, so it really shouldn't pose a problem at all. Profile: I figure I should put something up for whoever mistakenly stumbles into this particular dark alley. I'm 21, and I'm an avid reader. It would be impossible for me to overstate how much pleasure reading gives me. I write as well, though I'm certain I'm nowhere near a good writer yet. The sort of critical mindset I have makes me good at my part time job, which is editing and/or proof-reading, but it really hinders any effort I try for, since I'm very critical of myself, more so than anyone else. I've come across some really good works on this site. But considering most of them are on my Favorite Stories list, I doubt listing them here is necessary. Here's how I feel about the characters in HP: Ginny/Harry - The book left me sneering at this relationship. I mean, really. Fangirl suddenly becomes attractive because of some poorly constructed metaphorical beast? Please. Hermione - A little better than Ginny as a character. But what really annoyed me was her affinity to blind regurgitation. It has always been impressed upon me how important critical thinking is, and her blind devotion to authority really goes against this core principle of mine. Yes, yes, she is how she was molded. Well, I don't like how she was molded. All in all, one of my least favorite characters. OC/OC-ish Characters/HP - These I always try to read. They don't always turn out to be a great read, but I can appreciate the desire to go in a new direction. I'm sort of a snob I suppose. I don't read beyond the first two paragraphs if I see a lot of errors in them. Yes, I know English is not the first language for a lot of people. It's not mine either. But with aids such as betas, word processors, dictionaries, almanacs, all available at the tip our fingers, that reason doesn't fly with me. But I'm not the type to post malicious reviews, honest! I believe in constructive criticism, and I stick to reviewing plot, not structure. |
