I am fan of many genres, most notable favorites: Harry Potter, Legacy of Kain, and Resident Evil. My current project - Resident Evil: Escape from Raccoon, is not abandoned. There’s just a very extended period of time between updates.

I'm working to start up a Harry Potter Fanfiction discussion group (a bit like a book club, except over email). I've created a yahoogroup just for this reason. Excellent Series. Post Hogwarts. Perfect introduction to slash for HP fans because the author did an excellent job with Harry and Snape’s characters, yet there is no sexual scenes to speak of - graphic or otherwise (nothing more than two or three kissing scenes in the entire series so far). This taught me to appreciate good slash fics, whereas before I was very much anti-slash. Highly recommended.

Cigarettes and Razorblades by Aurora Enkeli Medeis (Complete)
HP/DM - More PreSlash than anything. A well-written fic that takes place post-Voldemort. A series of scenes, all taking place at the same spot, where two students find solace in each other - trying to carry on after losing almost every other person in their lives. A little dark in some places, but the characters are captured well and witty banter is abundant.

Eclipse by Mijan (In Progress)HP/DM
Very Pre-Slash so far. Draco seeks to gain his father's favor by bringing him Harry. The problem is that Draco learns more about who Harry really is and what Voldemort is really not too late in the game, and now looks for a way to save himself and Harry from a very brutal and dark end. May sound cliche in summary, but as with any other story in my list, this story went beyond the standard quailty found in most HP fics. Great read.Release from

Bondage by Elanor Isolda (In Progress)HP/SS
(Still very Pre-Slash with only one chapter to go) With a title like that, you are probably raising an eyebrow seeing it under the Intro-Slash category on this page, right? No, this is a Post-Voldemort fic told from Severus' perspective. Now free of Voldemort's rule, he picks up and looks to move on in his life. But after a shared moment with Harry after Voldemort's defeat, a nagging feelings sticks in the back of his mind only to be irritated every time Harry steps back into his life to see how he's doing. It's an enjoyable character-driven story, told so well you don't notice the angst building inside you until stop reading to take the story in. Very well done, I'm looking forward to seeing how this finished.

All I Crave is a Normal Life by cazgirl (In progress/Hiatus?)
Post Hogwarts - Harry had disappeared from the wizarding world immediately after the defeat of Voldemort. and adopts a muggle persona. Years later after a tragic event in his muggle life, Harry returns to what is familiar, taking up a position at Hogwarts, hidden behind his alternate persona. Only slightly slashy in the first chapter so far. Highly recommended.

HP/SS – This author has a lot of fun with Harry and Snape. Definitely leans towards the fluffy side rather than delving into angst, but that doesn’t mean the story isn’t deep or introspective. Starts post-Hogwarts, but before the end of the war where Snape is still spying and Harry is basically under house arrest at Headquarters for safety reason. It takes off from there. Focuses mostly on the Harry/Snape relationship, especially on the sexual nature of the relationship. A lot of fun to read, and a lot of memorable quotes from much Harry/Snape banter.

HP/DM – Another classic in the HP/DM genera. This takes place several years post-Hogwarts. Harry is an Auror with a less-than-impressive desk job, yet he finds himself with the unlucky job of tracking down Draco after he’s disappeared somewhere in San Francisco. It starts out like many fluffy HP/DM stories, where they obsess over each other, but once they get over that hurdle, the protagonists find that there are actual foul plots afoot – many centering around the mysterious disappearance of the Dark Lord several years ago. Great story – and regular updates!

HP/DM - So very glad I came across this one. Voldemort won, sending the light side into hiding or seeking refuge with the US. Harry’s called upon to make a large sacrifice – his life for those of the muggleborn that are currently being held in Azkaban. Harry begrudgingly takes the the sacrificial order from Fudge, and finds himself wishing it had been as easy as being executed by Voldemort on site. The story is quite long in all the good ways, with a good blend of action, adventure, romance, and plotting – something for everyone.

HP/SS – 7th year fic with one of my more favorite versions of Harry. Still a bit depressed and still taking too much upon himself, however this Harry is more mature than most write him, and very self-sufficient. His Slytherin side shows through in this fic, and Severus seems to be the only one who notices the façade Harry is presenting. A very well written series with a delicious inner-voice that plagues Severus to no end. Despite the fact Harry is still in-school, this is one of the more intelligently written and mature stories you’ll find in the HP/SS genera. One of my favorites.

HP/DM – This is a Post-Hogwarts story where Harry feels his life is going well, just before everything in his life falls through. Draco’s life isn’t going much better. Neither can stand each other and have happily managed to stay out of the other’s life quite successfully. Then a pair of enchanted journals enter into the equation… you may see where this is headed. Whether you do or not, this is a great read. And an extra bonus – it’s VERY long. But not in that obnoxious, too long sort of way. Wonderful read.

Cast A Stone by Hades' Phoenix (In Progress)
Eventual HP/DM and RL/SB To strip it down to basics, Harry has a sort of 'multiple personality disorder'. But nothing in this story is that basic. Definitely a story for those who like DarkHarry, AbusedHarry, InnocentHarry, AngryHarry - just about any Harry you enjoy reading. All in one fic - and somehow it's done so well! It is currently in rewrite, but things look like they’re progressing well. The 'shards' (as they are called) are very unique and each are endearing in their own way. Definitely worth the time to check out.

All of Hades’ Phoenix’s work is worth checking out. Go to their author page and dig into their list of published works – you will not be disappointed.

HP/DM Another Post-Hogwarts Harry and Draco are teachers fic. This time Harry wants Draco. Badly. Draco may or may not want Harry, but never gives any indication either way. The fact that Draco is engaged to Pansy seems to solve this issue for all parties involved, but since when are things ever that easy? Add in the fact the war is still going on, and that Draco’s father feels Voldemort is not the power he used to be, and you have a 3 sided conflict. Chaos and angst ensue. Nice long fic with somewhat regular updates.

Six Feet Cold by Enivrement (In Progress)
Post Hogwarts. HP/SS in later chapters. Harry disappears immediately after defeating Voldemort only to return years later (under an alias) when Hogwarts is in need of a teacher. I love how this author writes. Real emotions, excellent characters, and many moments that had me laughing out loud at work. I’m slightly saddened now that it looks like the author is trying to finishing this as quickly as possible. There may be follow up stories, but I’m doubtful at this point, which saddens me because it really is a rather good fic.

This is one of those wonderful fics I can't even begin to summarize. It starts as one story, and evolves into this wonderfully complex and encompassing story that I just couldn't stop reading. Some truly inspired storylines in this one, and it still has me guessing about the plot. Thankfully not predictable. Just read it. You'll like it.

In This Space Where I Can Breathe by corporealdreams (Finished)HP/SS. Post Voldemort. A dark story told from Harry's point of view. Very captivating - had me hooked by the end of the first chapter. Destroying Voldemort cost Harry more than he bargained for. On top of everything else, he believes it cost him his purpose in life. Now he tries to move on, but finds out that might just be harder than defeating a Dark Lord. Highly Recommended.

Betrayal Can Only Happen If You Love (Complete)
by Sansa1HP/SS - A well-plotted fic that involves a little bit of parallel universe, and a little bit of time-travel. These combine into a very good read. It starts with Harry wishing that he was never the Boy-Who-Lived with all of the burden it entails. His wish is granted, and while he lives enjoying his newfound happiness, the repercussions of his wish become apparent and he finds that without him in the role of savior, the wizarding world and all those he cares about don't stand a chance. You've read this plotline before, but this is one of the better examples of the genera. Definitely worth the read.

And I must insist that once you've read these stories, click on the author's link and check out their other works, because the beauty of this writing style continues to be reflected in the author's other stories. Very inspired.

The Depths of Winter by bananacosmicgirl (Finished)
HP/DM Post Hogwarts. Post Voldemort. The setup is that Harry's in the Muggle world 4 years after graduation, and has little to no contact with the wizard world. There is no love loss between the two rivals, but things begin to change when he finds Draco after a car accident, fated to be tied to a wheelchair the rest of his life. I know, sounds very cliché. I gave it a chance because the author wrote another story I enjoyed, and I'm glad I did. A great character story that rises a bit above the cliché, and even manages to throw in some action and intrigue. Very well done, and the Finished status is an added bonus!

The Summer's Secret by Japhu (In Progress)
HP/SS Slash (not in story yet though). The Order is baffled. Harry disappears for a week before reappearing back at Number 4 Privet Drive. The thing is, Voldemort is missing, and Harry doesn't even remember being gone. At least, that's what he claims. Very intriguing so far, definitely an original idea compared to others I've read. The build is very slow, and I find the author very wordy. May change soon, so I reserve judgment.

In Memory I by Becka (In Progress)
HP/DM and HP/SS (Neither in story yet). Hagrid took Harry to the Dursleys, and Harry proceeds to spend his childhood there. But Hagrid was followed, and now Harry is watched... A very interesting approach into learning what the 'Death Eaters' were looking for when choosing to follow Tom Riddle and the possible effects on the Wizarding World brought on by one Harry Potter - whose magical education started long before Hogwarts. Very neat story.

Animus by isolde13 (Complete)
HP/DM Slash. Post Hogwarts. While a great fic, not a happy one. Deals with darker issues - a haunted Harry finds a defeated Draco a few years after the defeat of Voldemort. The world has been kind to neither.

At the Hand of the Other (Finished)Post OOTP.
HP/SS This story shows the growing romantic dynamic between Harry and Snape in a believable way. I love the way this author writes Harry - a much more believably confident Harry, not nearly the abused push-around so many other authors write.

Unwanted or Improper by ImmortalFlick (In Progress/Abandoned?)
HP/SS A fic where Harry and Snape find themselves in a situation neither wanted and are unable to refuse. Not updated to terribly frequently since the author has her finger in many different fics, but I quickly devour every chapter as it comes out.

Alley of Dreams by Caster (In Progress/Abandoned?)
HP/SS Post Hogwarts. Well written story, great work with Harry and Snape’s personalities. I really appreciate an author who can write a good ‘Harry-as-an-adult’. Toss in an adorable child and it makes this fic a great read.

Lest I Wither by Jim1 (In Progress/Abandoned?)HP/SS
Post Hogwarts. Harry, an Auror, seeks Snape’s help in finding a cure after being poisoned. Later chapters reveal a larger plot against Harry by the Ministry. This fic seems to be on a bit of a hiatus, but I’m still hoping the author keeps it going.

No More Than He Deserves by Mione5 (Finished)

Really, nearly everything that Mione5 writes is worth reading. HP/SS. Post Hogwarts. A few years since graduation, Voldemort has been defeated. But it seems some wounds Harry cannot heal. Harry returns, still carrying a physical reminder of that final confrontation, and his former lover and his friends struggle to help the prideful Gryffindor and save him from himself. A slightly more OOC pick of mine, but there’s just something pulling in the relationship between Harry and Severus in this fic.

MPREG Usually not my cup of tea. I am not into MPreg fics at all, but I started reading this one before I realized it was one, so I found myself enjoying the story too much to stop reading. Slightly more OOC than I usually recommend, but there’s just something about this one that keeps me enjoying it. A bit sappy at times, but balanced well with dark issues and action.
