it was incredible. thank you so much for bringing this fanfiction to life.

this was a breath of fresh air (as strange as that sound for such a story). I read it in about 20 minutes, and at first didnt think anything of it. It was just another fic in a Drarry folder on the ap yet to be read. I've read so many depressing, cynical, dark fics over the years, but I think this has to be one of the best, idea wise. I love the telling of the story through only one setting and time frame. It's the same each chapter, outside on the rocks by the lake at night. We see so little of the outside world, yet we don't need to. What is most important is the relationship budding between these two broken teens, which comes more into light with snippets of what happened outside of hogwarts following the war. Those are always hard to pull off, movies or books with only one location as the setting. Asode from that cool aspect, I also was drawn in by the characterization for Harry and Draco: a mix of hopelessness, sarcasasm, and despression. A lot of times, I read stories where someone is depressed and all they do is cry and talk about how worthless they are or how much they want to kill themselves(no offense to anyone you may know in real life like that). What gets washed away in the media is that depression is, the majority of the time, not just sobbing suicidal people. I remember just being tired, giving up, not caring about anything. I had lost myself and somehow got into self harm. I didnt want to die, so I just lived life like that. I went on like this for a couple years. I now know it's dangerous and losing oneself to a high from cutting can lead to deeper cuts and accidental suicide, but this is fanfiction. It isn't real. I am able to find a fic where someone feels this way, and can continue living like this without real life fear of someone getting hurt. Draco's reaction, too, felt authentic to me. Not as someone completely on the outside, but as someone who can empathize with Harry's hopelessness and understand, which is why he doesnt interfere with Harry's smoking or self harm. This is one of the most satisfying fics I've ever read, and I'm glad I'm upset because of how depressing it was. It was authentic and genuine yet sweet and fluffy. It was different and refreshing, which again is such a strange adjective for an angsty romance story. Very well written. Really. I don't know whether you came up with the idea for inspiration of personal experience or what, (If so, I do hope you have gotten help for any problems you have, as the consequences of self harm are actually dangerous in real life as compared to fictitious fanfictions) but I commend you creating a well-organized, well-written ficlet.

This was beautiful. I especially loved the descriptions. I was so glad that it wasn't one of those smutty fics where Draco and Harry fall in love, then have sexon every surface. This was very deep and quiet. I love it!

Jeez... I don't even know what to say in response as a review. This story, my god. I loved it.

Your alternate ending to the war made me really sad, though. And Harry's reflection on Hermione and Ron (lolol, no mention of Ginny) a few chapters back made me want to hug something. His best friend - his first best friend - of six years died, and his other best friend of five and a half years has gone completely insane. Were I in Harry's place, I honestly don't think I could have gone to visit her. I'd want to, of course, but... Hermione is brilliant. She's fictional, yes, but she's freaking brilliant, and to see someone so completely out of it like I picture her to be... I wouldn't be able to take it. Then again, Harry's gone through worse than that, so...

I honestly think your portrayal of cutting and the thoughts behind it and what it looks like are some of the most accurate I've read. The part where you mentioned the blood beading where the cut was deeper in some areas kind of stuck with me. In a lot of stories, when I picture it, it seems like one straight line, perfectly straight and with the same depth in each place, and it's not. I dunno, I guess I just really liked that about your fic.

And Harry and Draco. Ohmygoodness. They didn't jump into it which made their romance in this fic all the better, and they had mixed feelings about their sexual preferences. Draco moreso than Harry, but it was still there. I really liked that Draco was hesitant and stopped because of his upbringing and how he was taught to think his entire life. It seemed more real. You can't just dive head-on into a situation like theirs and be perfectly fine with it, especially having Draco's past.

My only complaints are the few missing commas, but that doesn't deviate from how simply fantastic I thought this fic was. The characters and the situations seem more real, and I liked that. And their banter back and forth was hilarious. xD

I will be looking for that sequel...

Aww :) I like that Harry and Draco depend on one another for a sense of normalcy, considering everything else has gone haywire. Great story, and nice job weaving in Harry's addictions with Draco's problems.
