Minato’s zanpakuto

Name: Juuiti Ryōdo Sensi (Warrior of 11 Domains)

Forms

Sealed: obsidian o-katana, similar to Zangetu’s bankai, though without the swastika-like tsuba. Instead, the tsuba is a fairly standard oval shape, though it is black like the blade with gold inlays that form a warped spiral that circles the blade. The tsuka (handle) is painted gold and wrapped in black, with two red-tinted stainless-steel wires twisting around it to meet at the kasira (pommel). The saya (sheath) is standard matte black wood near the koiguti (open end of the saya) but fades to a pearlescent blue-white that is similar to the color of a slipspace portal (main mode of interstellar transportation in Halo) at the kojiri (closed tip of the saya).

Sikai form: The awakening command is “Cut away the bonds of my space-time, Juuiti Ryōdo Sensi!” Black zweihander that seems to absorb all light it comes into contact with, looking at the blade could be compared with looking directly at the event horizon of a black hole, which is the point at which the escape velocity becomes greater than the speed of light. The cross-guard is replaced on both sides by three prongs, reminiscent of the Hiraisin kunai blades. The hilt is the same bluish-white as the kojiri of the saya, while the pommel is an orb that contains an unknown pulsating blue-white substance that, when freed, can be controlled by Minato’s thoughts. The substance is lethal to all except Minato, and corrodes flesh at a prodigious rate after coming into contact with someone.

In addition to this ability, sikai increases Minato’s natural speed to unimaginable levels, similar to Zangetu’s bankai. It also gives Minato the ability to open slipspace rifts with the blade that can act like both Senkaimon of Seireitei and Garganta of Hueco Mundo, as well as a sealess Hiraisin.

Bankai form: named Juuiti Ryōdo Sensi no Kage (Shadow of the Warrior of 11 Domains). In this form, the zweihander becomes a set of gauntlets and greaves. The palm of the hand is left exposed so that Minato is free to use his jutu, while the entire back of the hand, including the fingers, is covered. The ends of each finger of the gauntlets are tipped with claw-like blades, and the portions that cover the forearms have retractable, chakra-conducting blades. The greaves cover the entire lower leg, and have a similar design to the leg armor of SPARTAN-117’s MJOLNIR MK VI combat skin, and are chakra conducting.

Both the gauntlets and greaves are completely black, save for the retracting blades in the gauntlets, which are the same color as the sikai’s hilt. In addition to the shape change of the weapon, Minato undergoes a wardrobe change, much like Itigo when accessing bankai. While maintaining the signature white cloak, the standard jonin attire is replaced with a black body glove, similar to what is seen underneath the armor plating of the MJOLNIR system, a chest plate reminiscent of the C.Q.B MJOLNIR variant, though much less bulky, and standard MJOLNIR thigh and groin armor, all matte black. In addition to this, shoulder armor, similar to the HAYABUSA shoulder variant, also black, cover the shoulders, strapped outside the cloak, with the Konoha symbol inlaid in gold on the right shoulder plate.

The gauntlets are similar to the look of Nero’s Devil Bringer in DMC 4. Minato’s natural speed undergoes another boost, to the point where the inertial dampening system of the armor is required to prevent the near-relativistic speeds he is capable of from tearing him apart. Furthermore, the slipspace capabilities of the armor are increased to the point where Minato can move fast enough to leave solid afterimages behind without the use of kage bunsin. However, his bankai, like Tosiro Hitugaya, has a time limit, which once reached, prevents him from using bankai again for at least four days. As Minato grows in power, the time limit will be extended, though will initially last only a few minutes at best.

Background

This zanpakuto’s name stems from String Theory, which states that there are 11 dimensions, the four we perceive (three of space and one of time) and seven others that make up what is known as the “bulk,” which holds an infinite number of universes in that eleven-dimensional space, on what are known as “membranes.” In Halo, slipspace technology exploits the other seven imperceptible dimensions for faster than light travel, meaning it is possible to, with the right calculations fed into a slipspace drive, ‘safely’ bridge the gap between worlds.

This being said, this FTL ability seems appropriate for a zanpakuto with such a name. I decided to use this as Minato’s zanpakuto due to the inter-dimensional nature of both BLEACH and this fiction, as Minato was transported from his dimension and managed to breach the gap between the worlds to summon the Sinigami. Furthermore, the Hiraisin is just short of FTL anyway.

Lastly, the bankai wardrobe is not because of his zanpakuto being the spirit of a SPARTAN super soldier. The SPARTANs did indeed travel through slipspace, but their trips were controlled by the calculations of ship-class AIs such as Cortana. The spirit of Minato’s zanpakuto is an AI similar in form to Cortana (yes female), though looking a bit more fearsome, having a facial structure similar to Inner Moka of Rosario to Vampire. The MJOLNIR-like armor is there so that Juuiti Ryōdo Sensi can aid Minato in battle.

Yu-Gi-Oh Zero Season and Manga

I think that the usage if a card game to solve problems in the Yu-Gi-Oh series completely screwed up the original premise of the series. Seriously, the Yami Yugi of the manga and zero season was a badass, sadist maniac who would do shit to his enemies that would make Ibiki and Anko proud. Every single one of his enemies wound up mentally shattered, gibbering wrecks; grievously wounded; or dead. None of this "Hey. Let's solve our problems with a children's card game" bullshit. Oh, and Joey wasn't called Joey, he was initially an asshole, and Teah had a pair (figuratively, dumbasses).

Quick question concerning a discrepancy in Naruto: Why is it that the Shiki Fujin can stop a rampaging, five-hundred-foot tall, nine-tailed fox, rip it in half and stuff each part in a different person, but apparently lacks the power to stop one pale mad man who likes to body switch.

While I'm not exactly a fan of the Sailor Moon series, one thing I would like to point out. Scout is not an accurate description of what their battlefield role is. If a scout is being engaged directly by the enemy, they have fucked up. Badly. As much as it really doesn't seem like it fits, the senshi are more akin to heavy infantry or special forces than scouts. The only reason we have that title is because some localization company decided the alliterative factor of 'Sailor Scout' sounded better than the actual translation, despite the fact that English-speaking anime/manga fans have no problem with just using the original Japanese titles. I'm looking at you Bleach. That's not the only problem with that particular localization either.
