![]() Author has written 10 stories for Suikoden, Mass Effect, Star Wars, and Dragon Age. March 2016: For readers still following 'Precipice of Change', I'm still working on it... a serious health issue came up middle of 2015 that left me severely anemic. In addition to the horrible physical symptoms, there were mental/information processing symptoms that made it challenging just to function in day-to-day life. I thought I'd pretty much turned the corner in December, and even managed to write a short one-shot 'Secret Santa' story for a fellow author, but then relapsed... so here I am in March, finally feeling mostly normal (again) and really, really hoping it stays that way this time. I've been playing RPGs since I was a kid and always had a vivid imagination when it came to filling in gaps left by the in-game stories, as well as just extending the stories and characters. So my favorite fanfic stories tend to be ones that use the familiar game story as a starting point but get very creative from there. And that's probably why those are my favorite types of stories to write. All of my novel length fanfic stories are 'campaign' stories with a lot of creative twists and original ideas inserted along the way to give them a fresh feel. I'll use some in-game dialogue, but even when I do I'll often alter it (change the setting, who says it, etc.), flesh it out with original content, etc. But I try to be original with dialogue and how I write scenes in general because let's face it, none of us want to read a story that's little more than a copy/paste of the game script and/or reads like a walkthrough. Along those lines, my current writing efforts follow DA2. Something I put a lot of effort into is making sense of the nonsensical aspects of the story and filling in the plot holes left by the developers due to the rushed release. So hopefully as you read you'll find a more coherent version of the DA2 story that answers/fixes a lot of the story related things that bug us gamers. I'm also adding much more backstory and character development. Due to length, I'm breaking my DA2 arc into three separate "books" that will correspond to the three acts of the DA2 story. Book 1, Hurtled into Chaos, is complete. Book 2, The Precipice of Change, is in-progress. Misery Hawke artwork (thank you, thank you, thank you!!!): Sharem created a wonderful rendition of Misery from Hurtled into Chaos. http:///art/Hurtled-into-Chaos-Misery-Hawke-273567223 xseikax did an amazing take on Misery in The Precipice of Change timeline. http:///art/Hurtled-into-Chaos-Misery-Hawke-376493147 Dragon Age authors should stop by the CMDA forums and hang out with the other crazy DA authors already there! http:///cmda/index.php |
