I liked how Origins and II were more crossed over, so to speak. But no video game could ever do that as well as many fans want...Oh well.
And it was kind of Hawke to do that for Merrill...Especially since it seemed to help with the obssession.

I love the image of Hawke as world-weary, ready to put down the burdens of Championhood for a life of peaceful leisure, and Merrill's understanding and agreement is well reasoned.

Thank you again for writing this :) I loved the setting you chose for the story, tying in the aftermath of both DA2 and Witch Hunt. You nailed Merrill's OCD nature with the Eluvian, where even when she *knows* how much it has cost her she still struggles to give it up. And I thought it made perfect sense that Hawke had simply had enough of fixing everything for everyone and just wanted to find his own quiet sanctuary with Merrill and his dog and no one else. It plays nicely into the theme that heroes are made by circumstance rather than it being something they actively seek to be.

A lovely little ficlet. It is nice to see a protagonist who doesn't want to be in the thick of things for once. I like that Merrill and Hawke have stayed together.
