States!verse

So as some of you are possibly aware, down in the story section of this page there's a large amount of stories involving America (Hetalia) and his fifty states. Or maybe a not-so-large amount, but I'm hoping it'll get there. I'm going to be throwing up some basic information about these stories and do my best to keep it updated. Eventually, I'll try and have a link to where you can find everyone's name/personality/general appearances/etc...

Point One: All of these stories are part of the same AU, unless I specifically say otherwise.

Point Two: It's always been a personal headcanon of mine that America isn't actually stupid, he just feels the urge to lighten the mood by acting that way. He also lets his mouth keep talking without actually thinking about what he's saying, leading to some rather embarrassing moments. As such, in this 'verse, America is not stupid, and neither are his children. Generally.

Point Three: The States list their official ages as the date they joined the Union, their "birthdays" so to speak. Physically, the thirteen original colonies appear to be around seventeen or eighteen, and the youngest (Alaska and Hawaii) look around six. However, much like the personification of America was found by England quite a long time before the Revolutionary War, America started finding his states before they actually became states.

Point Four: The personified states and countries generally do not hate each other on principle unless they're England and France or New York and Massachusetts. Relations between the countries do heavily affect their personified counterparts, but Alfred and Yao talking is completely different than America and China talking. This being said, the fifty states all manage to live with each other without strangling everybody else... most of the time

Chronological Order of Stories:

All Through the Night - Despite the whole nation-state thing and those weird age differences they've got going on, America has always been, first and foremost, a father.
Brother in Arms - The Civil War rages on, and the Battle of Fredericksburg proving to be one of the worst fights yet. Massachusetts hates his siblings for leaving them all, but there's no way he's leaving one to die.
Red Ink - Civil War one-shot, told mostly in snippets of letters. The states were raised together as one, but the war is doing its best to rip them all apart.
Windchill - It's cold outside, New York can't sleep, and Massachusetts can't stop shaking.

I am moving all of my stories from to AO3 because I prefer the format there. All works will be edited to read more smoothly as well as for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
