Ancient (Previously, Sonic the Saiyan)

I decided it was about time I shed my prior username. Hopefully that won't cause confusion. I'm still a nerd, but not so much that I want to go around as Sonic the Saiyan anymore, heh. Ancient is my go-to username in other services, so I decided to bring it over (technically I'm Ancient - StS now because Ancient was already taken but oh you get the point). Anyways, it's still me, don't worry, I didn't hijack myself, I just figured it was time for a slightly new look.

About me:

I'm quite friendly in real life, and enjoy contact with my fans, so don't be afraid to shoot me a private message or post a review, because I love them! You shouldn't ever be afraid if you want to chat, so feel free.

I'm a gamer, a reader, a writer (duh), and a music lover. I also love anime.

For games, I play quite a bit of Pokemon and Dragon Ball. Probably my all time favorite game would have to be Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

I was quite the bookworm growing up, giving me an innate knowledge of Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and my personal favorites, Fablehaven

I tend to be quite the fan of soundtracks to anime and games alike, much of the My Hero Academia soundtrack finding its way into my favorites, as well as others like 99 Mob Choir, Hello Hello Hello, The Ultimate Battle, Guren no Yumiya, and more

Favorite DBZ Characters:

Gohan - Just a really solid character, peaceful, but with a fuse. Kind, shy, but powerful and overwhelming when he needs to be. And nicely dorky as well, which is always a plus in my books

Bardock - We didn't get to see much of the father of Goku, only that he was a hard headed Saiyan warrior with more compassion for his people than most. He was violent with a care for his comrades, not so much the bloodlust driven barbarian that the average Saiyan appeared to be.

Janemba - this one is less about the character's... character, and more about their design and concept. Janemba is the perfect example of a demon in his physical form, and perhaps bears some of the craziest powers in the series, bending reality to his will, something that could seriously be expanded upon. While his character is literally just Kid Buu rehashed, I enjoy his stance as a fighter.

Ships - Something you should know about me. I love my ships. I'm not the "IM GONNA STAB YA IF YOU DISS MA SHIP" type of individual, but I still love and enjoy them with a passion.

Dragon Ball: Gohan x Videl - These two compliment each other well. One of my favorites, if only for the irony of the matchup. The Savior of the planet, and the daughter of the person who took his credit. No to mention, Videl's fiery temperment with Gohan's shyness is a good pairing.

Pokémon: Advanceshipping (Ash x May) - really just my first ship, and I love it for that. May is the one I see who has the most in common with Ash, and personally, my favorite. A strong matchup of two who stuck together for a long time, and arguably have the strongest case going for them from the big 3 Pokémon ships.

Aureliashipping (Ash x Lillie) - ...you know, there's really no rhyme or reason behind this one. I just like it.

Altoshipping (Ash x Latias) - probably my most 'out there' ship. It's sort of got a tragic, mysterious vibe to it, considering it may or may not be canon... one sidedly anyways. Ash, someone who gave his all to try and help Latias and her brother. I know human and Pokémon can look weird sometimes, but these two? I just feel them, it works.

Sonic the Hedgehog: Taismo - canon, and sad. The ship of the two younger members aboard the Blue Typhoon for Sonic X had a tragic ending, which is part of what makes it endearing. Against the odds and short time together, the two fell for each other unconditionally. It was heartwrenching that Cosmo had to sacrifice herself, and even harsher was that Tails had to pull the trigger to make her sacrifice worthwhile. We never got it to go anywhere... but what's Fanfiction for, eh?

My Hero Academia: MinaDeku - I didn't think much of ships when I first entered the fandom. After all, everyone was shipped with everyone, looked like a mess. IzuOcha was the only one I considered... and then I discovered MinaDeku. This is, in my eyes, the perfect ship (OPINION). The shy, timid, and driven Izuku, bad with social situations, and the energetic, outgoing Mina, a total social butterfly if a little airheaded sometimes. They compliment each other perfectly, in my opinion. They don't repel each other as opposites, but rather, fit together to branch the weaknesses of the other. A socially inept and tormented kid, with the friendly Mina to bridge the gap and get him to open up. She may struggle acadmically, but Izuku is a driven scholar who can help her. The way they mesh together, it's just perfect to me.

Writing Style: Unlike some good numbers of Fanfiction Authors I've seen in play, I try to add a sense of realism to my stories. Realism is a broad term, but I like to avoid going stupidly outside of the confines of what the world mechanics are set to allow, and try to keep things realistic to the world they're set in. As opposed to others I've seen, which are good in their own right, this is the style that fits me.

Story Statuses:

Joined Worlds - currently on hiatus until I can find the drive to pump out the last few chapters. I think I may scrap the ideas for the sequel series. I enjoyed writing it when I first started, but as time went on, I realized just how bad and cliched it was. I'm hoping to at least conclude this story sometime before too long, but it might be ended prematurely.

Time Can't Heal Every Pain - this wasn't even my story to begin with, but rather, an old story that got taken down and the author gave me permission to post back up. It's not mine to finish, so what it is is what it is.

Status - Finished/Abandoned

Pokémon: Myths and Legends - looking back, I appall myself with how bad of an idea this was. I had no endgame plan, just the idea of "have every game character with their Legendary Pokemon or two vs some old organizations, plus the anime protags for good measure". I don't have any intentions as of now of picking this story back up.

The Aura Lives On - a story I enjoy writing, but is not a priority compared to my others. I do plan to write it all the way through, but I have bigger projects I'm focusing on right now

Loss of the Chosen One - my own take on the idea established by Time Can't Heal Every Pain, a story that I'm having some trouble writing, but no plans of abandoning. I enjoy writing, just have to struggle to do it right now. It's one of my main focuses

Another Age, Another Adventure - my favorite to write and most popular story, the content comes to me easier. The priority is about the same as Loss of the Chosen One, but since it's easier for me to write, will be getting some more consistent updates

Favorite Stories - You bet your can I'm gonna go off on some of the most brilliant gems I've found. Consider it compensation to the authors of these stories for a fantastic personal experience!

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Silver Resistance - ScytheRider - Pokémon - Words cannot describe how much I love this story. With PMD having probably my favorite game of all time, this story was a stellar tribute to one of the greatest parts of the franchise. With tons of memorable characters, plot twists, and so, SO much more to its name. I can't even begin to do it justice without drafting an essay, but I can most definitely say that any Pokemon fan should go read this story.

Savior of Demons - Ryu no Ohi - DBZ - if I had to choose two words to describe this story, they would probably be Heavy and Psychological. The story deals with dark themes, but without needing to resort to becoming edgy. It toes the line very well. It's a very intelligent story, both in grammar and concepts. It really makes you feel the characters. On top of that, it is stellar at worldbuilding, expanding on the previously defined universe in a very large way. It's not for everyone, as it is a very, as I said, intelligent story. It can be a lot to take in, and overwhelming to some people, which is why it falls short of ranking where I personally feel it should be. However, it is truly exceptional at what it does, and I recommend anyone who can take it in to read it.

The Black Latios - Mekon - Pokémon - while not nearly as intense, powerful, or psychological, The Black Latios succeeds in simply being a good read. Sweet, action moments, good use of the established world, it's all here. One of the few gems available to an Altoshipper. It simply is a very good read, maintaining a great sense of quality throughout.

Under the Radar - Hipstergecko - DBZ - this one is just straight up a good read, especially for Gohan fans, and even more for those who love Gohan and Videl. A twist on the classic highschool story of the two that manages to deliver both the serious and intense, and the shy, nerdy sides to our favorite Demi Saiyan. It has powerful emotional moments to resonate with the reader, and we get to see character growth for everyone. Honestly, a fantastically executed story with a more unique concept than many that I highly recommend to all who love Gohan, and Gohan x Videl. Hell, if you even just want a solid DBZ fic, here's your answer.

Viridescent - darkfire1220 - MHA - This is, without a doubt, the best handling of a Quirk AU I've ever read. It's not just the generic "let's give him this one and see how it goes" no. It makes very deliberate changes to the world for the better, and expands on everything that can possible be expanded upon, yet wasn't touched by the main series. His Quirk, his father, Bakugo's attitude, Izuku's intellect, it's all portrayed in an excellent fashion, all while giving the world that slightly more mature and serious touch that some of the slightly older lovers of the series can definitely appreciate. It is well deserving of it's number one spot in the fandom, and I can safely say that this is my second favorite story out of all of them.

The First Generation - QuirkQuartz - MHA - As a writer, and a reader, I take stories seriously and realistically. Never once, even through some of the most beautiful stories I've read, considering applying the adjective 'perfect' to a story. And while it may not be feasible to apply at all, this is the first story I've ever read to sway me of the notion that 'perfect' is impossible to apply. Capable of extracting emotions from its reader without even trying, and developing a fully realistic world in the circumstances that are presented. It makes you feel things that you doubt you should be feeling. It's expertly crafted, and I haven't encountered a single moment where I thought it could be any better. Is perfect achievable? I'm not sure. But this is the only story to date that has made me think that maybe, just maybe, it is.
