The scene reminds me of some forgotten anime where they use superpowers/supernatural bikes to race and stuff.

I like this story, and I think it was a real improvement on the anime. Ash seems a lot more capable and believable; he's not murderous towards Jessie and James, and they were actually able to get stronger the way real Pokemon trainers should. The anime, at least the first couple of seasons, makes Jessie and James lose so much that we feel sorry for them and never really see who Ash is and what his potential is as a trainer because he's just a big bully to those three, never anyone else, but those three.

The match at the Viridian City gym was much better than in the anime. Jessie and James had evolved Pokemon, they played fair, and they fought hard. Giovanni actually kind of cared about Jessie and James as well, instead of just throwing them away.

This has been a thoroughly enjoyable story.

It amazes me how much you've grown as a writer since you started this fanfic series.
I love your characters and all the thought you put into what you write.
I'm really excited to see how you handle mewtwo after building it up for two whole fanfics.

For some reason, I pictured Pokémon GO for a small portion of this chapter. That's probably because I recalled that trailer where everyone in New York City attempted to capture it.

Anyway, rock solid action and good that you made the most of Andy's Pokémon. Particularly his Serperior with Contrary and his Lucario with Mega Evolution.

Honestly, I don't know who wins. Don't much care about that as I'm presuming Ash's connection with Mewtwo will overshadow that tension.

I'm rather enjoying the intensity of this fight. Jesse and James are delightfully competent for once, and it's good to see them in this story again...as warped as that sounds.

Also, if I recall correctly, Ash only meets Giovanni twice throughout the anime series. First was in Mewtwo Returns and second was in Unova, involving Meloetta and the Legendary Forces of Nature.

Andy is an interesting character. Wonder what else he'll be a part of when the Gym Battle ends.

One doesn't usually go in depth with a new character unless they intend to make them important. And you did mention being told otherwise about too many hybrids or something. I just plain don't care and am going along for the ride as I presently have time to.
