Reviews for Savior of Demons
p6lishb6kser chapter 46 . 7/18
It's really great fic :) I guess you'll use both timelines (GT and mainly super) after this and I can't wait to see if you'll use them before or after Cell, because I'm guessing that the Data Dr. Gero gathered about Buu will greatly shorten time before his birth
Hamza9236 chapter 29 . 7/16
You've portrayed Mr. Satan and Videl way better her than canon and we're not even in the Cell Saga! Heavy cheers!
Hamza9236 chapter 28 . 7/16
The fact you managed to incorporate three movie villains, Turles, Slug and Paragus in some sort of alliance, is beyond incredible!
Christian Haller chapter 46 . 7/14
I know I'm, sadly, a bit late to this story (it was basically at chapter 41 when I found it), and I know you probably get these a lot, but I really did want to commend you on the story as a whole. You took what I initially thought a B grade villain and made him a complex and layered character far more than cannon ever did. Every turn you took from the source material only served to make me even more intrigued and on the edge of my seat. The way you incorporated movie villains and more Arcosians, creating a deeper lore for the character as well as the universe with the looks into the PTO, it's really astounding. The Slug and Arcos chapters made me have a new appreciation for Frieza's father and the Super Namekian and even pre-Super Broly in his arc. And Tenshinhan? Amazing. From your foreshadowing of his mentoring of Frieza when he and his father arrived on Earth to his transformation into and android, it really put a lot of respect to a character who I've always loved and felt needed more respect. Kooler is highlighted so well here and I love what you did with the brother's dynamic. Alright, I'll stop gushing. I just wanted to say fantastic job on the story and thank you for a tale so wondrously woven I recently find myself questioning whether an event happened in true cannon or this simply because it's so fluid and I happen to like it more than the normal flow of events. Hope you're not done yet, but looking forward to whatever next venture you may take!
FloweroftheHarlequin chapter 2 . 7/7
Very good story thus far. Cant wait to see how it goes for the rest.
ShadowLDrago chapter 46 . 7/4
I've never been concussed before, but from everything I know about them, (admittedly little) they are to be avoided if at all possible.

When all seems lost in the war of light, look to the stars, for hope burns bright.

And so, the Super Spirit Bomb begins to form.

I like that canon Popo is still honest to god (HAH!) kind and helpful. He's been through who knows what, we know about as much about him as we do Yoda, and yet he's still a good guy.

And Frieza is finding out why Kid Buu is arguably the scariest of the Buus. He may not have as much raw power or intelligence as Buuhan, but he's got that single minded Chaotic Evil determination to HURT, he regenerates faster than any of them and is brutally animalistic so there's nothing to reason with, nothing to psychologically pry at. He has only one thing in mind. Destruction.

I don't exactly see you two having any better ideas for how to deal with Kid Buu.

The Imprisonment Ball, Frieza's very own Hold Monster. (D&D joke, long story short, the spell paralyses whoever it targets if they do not roll well, leaving them open to get smacked by the rest of the team)

"Did they get him?!" Well now that you jinxed it, no.

Huh, Kid Buu has survival instincts. I, didn't expect that. Or it can sense ki and on a primal level can tell that the Genki Dama is actually a threat to him. Either or. It's hard to tell with magical monstrosities with no mind.

Frieza's influential enough that some might raise their hands out of fear.

King Kai, perhaps you should leave the comedy for another time? Call me crazy but, this is probably neither the time or place.

Well there goes half of Piccolo. I suspect he would love a Senzu right now if one were available.

Spite is quite a thing, isn't it?

I suspect Cooler may have some better results since he has more charisma than Frieza and people who genuinely like him instead of following him out of fear alone.

Progress!

I need to use the phrase "blithering idiot" more.

He's able to more or less control it because while your heart is pure good, his is equally pure evil.

Gohan!

A Father-Son Spirit Bomb. Glorious.

Thank you Moori for being smart.

"I'm glad you're back." is probably the closest this Vegeta is going to get to an actual "I love you."

Mr Satan still has influence.

An actual apology from Frieza. I'm impressed. Apologizing isn't easy, especially when you know you've made an immense mistake, even moreso when one is as prideful as Frieza.

Rage is a double edged sword. It can empower you, but just as easily burn you from the inside out.

Actions speak louder than words, eh?

All Frieza needs is Kooler and they can be Statler and Waldorf to the rest of the Z Fighters' Muppets.

There's very few villains that have the decency to stay dead.

A single moment can be all that's needed to change the course of the future. See this very story, for one.

I've yet to see a Mirrorverse version of Dragon Ball. A pity, I'd be curious to see how that'd play out. Where beings like Frieza and Cell are genuinely heroic, where Goku is a monster instead of Earth's defender.

It's moment like mentioning Krillin almost skewered Vegeta that make me realize how WEIRD the Dragonball world is.

Right, you said you weren't going to adapt Super or GT, but do your own thing. Well, I'm certainly curious enough to see where this goes. Here's to further chapters. Though I must say, the added length from the public comment responses does make the chapter size (20 thousand plus words) look rather intimidating.
The Mask chapter 46 . 7/1
Good job, i liked it. Looking forward to whatever madness you can come up with as a pure uncanon experience
Adramalech chapter 46 . 7/1
This chapter could have easily been the last one with that ending. That said, I'm very glad it's not.

I loved Kooler's role in bringing down Buu. Without lifting a finger, he saved the universe. Not Frieza, but his much cooler brother.

This felt like a really conclusive chapter that makes it so whatever comes next will have characters more set into their roles and personalities.

Also I can't believe I forgot about this, but is a return home from Frieza and Kooler something you still have in mind for the future, or did Frieza abandon the idea entirely as he became more and more integrated with living on Earth and his new group of friends? I wouldn't think you'd make mention of that, especially with all the Haabu shenanigans, if it didn't have a pay off eventually.

Regardless, I can't wait for whatever comes next. Other than Cell and Gero being characters we're already familiar with, everything else that's coming will be uncharted territory for SoD.

Stay safe.
basemynick chapter 46 . 7/2
oooh wow what a feel-good end to this saga! ...I hope!
that part where cooler calls Frieza at the end had me laughing pretty hard, just imagining everyone on the entire ship trying not to piss off Frieza but being buddies with cooler enough that cooler isn't even concerned about it.
about Gohan helping goku hold the spirit bomb, some of the fighters present wouldn't have been able to do that, right? feels like a reference to when Gohan bounced the smaller one during the saiyan saga. a nice change to needing a whole dragon ball wish to fire one more attack
warriorofdark chapter 46 . 7/1
Movie villian time and or beerus time? #goldenfrieza
dropout-ninja chapter 46 . 7/1
And so this saga comes to a close! I do enjoy uncharted territory in this fic and am, as always, in suspense waiting to see how that will play out. That said, your novelizations of canon arcs is always good to read as well and the Buu arc here was no exception.
I think there's a fun parallel with this arc to the Android arc. The conversation with Roshi and Mark drives that in: both involve characters that otherwise would have joined the team, had the for want of a nail (ie Frieza living and the domino effect that's had) played out as canon. There are antagonists that have become allies (like Vegeta, just as canon had it, or Frieza and Kooler, as is rather unique to the events of this fic), but their presence morphs events into a state where other antagonists will not get their chance to do so (unlike canon, where 17 and 18 and Fat Buu all play a role as allies). I love watching the effects of this story's premise as they spread out further and further.
Kooler and Frieza's dialogue is always such a delight. There's still evident bitterness, but they still are so much better with each other than pre-Kooler's death. It was awesome seeing Kooler get a role here in addressing the people of the galaxy (and the fact that his call later was being played on loudspeaker for his crew cracked me up, he's a brat, they both are)
The final fight here was fantastic! Vegeta's part especially were crafted so well and every moment he had here- from 'asking' to be dropped when Frieza carried him out of the blast zone to his backwards way of telling Bulma and Trunks that he cared about them- was so quintessentially Vegeta. And the fact that Gohan got to play such a big role in ending it was great: he was set up in the show to take the lead from Goku and then the Buu saga dropped that hard. Here, they get to share the spotlight in finishing Buu off while Videl, Frieza and Kooler get the credit for getting the energy and those like Vegeta get the credit for holding Buu off. It was a team effort and that gets to really show here!
The big party was heartwarming to see and I really like the way it functions as the ending of this arc. The shenanigans happening were fun, the setting of fireworks and celebration made for a great psychoscape, and the different interactions occurring during it were perfect.
Frieza managed two apologies! He really has come so, so very far. His scene with Ten and Chiatzu was very important for their development as a team and their ability to laugh about their joke at the end shows that. And his apology to Krillin was so very necessary and really did show how far he's come. It was interesting for Krillin to note that he hadn't even thought to apologize to former enemies either.
I have so much more to gush about but I'll try to cut this short. Videl, Gohan, Piccolo, Roshi, Ten, Krillin, every side character that gets so much of a mention here shines so much. This really was just such a beautiful way to close this saga and open the door for the next!
WolveHulk chapter 46 . 7/1
That was excellent, my friend.
brooklynusaman1997 chapter 46 . 7/1

StRAngE ToASt chapter 45 . 6/29
Wow. We're at Kid Buu already? That was fast. I really like Buu's character in this. It makes him feel... more rounded in a way.
Arthur chapter 45 . 6/22
I hope that Fat Buu will survive at the end and that maybe Master Roshi and Satan will help him at be good
