Wattpad User: LightNightSky881 Archive of Our Own User: LightNS Announcements Hi everyone! I just wanted to let y'all know that I will be putting Glass and Hiraeth on hiatus for the month of June. I might squeeze in one more update for the month, but other than that, they won't be updated further until July. The reason I'm doing this is because I'm working on a special something for my LGBT friends and allies over at the She-Ra and the Princesses of Power fandom on Ao3 (if you're a Catradora fan, you might like this!) for the month of pride, so I'm focusing my love and attention on this fanfiction for the meantime. Thanks for being such devoted readers! I love you all, dearly! Please, stay safe in these unsure times, and for you activists, keep changing our world for the better! See you in July. Lots of Love, Light Coming Soon All the World's a Stage Summary: "Everybody puts on a mask, Gar. They play the role they're assigned. Showing weakness or any fault is not allowed. Some can't handle it. Others..." She turned to him, indigo eyes piercing deep into his own. "They play it too well." On a bridge, she found him. In his heart, she remained. BBRae AU. Rated for references to suicide and major character death. Current Featured Fanfiction Summary: Hiraeth /here-eyeth/ (noun): A homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, or a home which maybe never was. “What does that even mean?” he huffed while sending her a sideways glance. “It’s what I feel when I’m with you all.” A new girl, a prank gone wrong, an involuntary union, an exchange they never should've witnessed, and a rather unexpected family. High School AU To my Percy Jackson Fanfiction fans, I'm not going to continue to write about the Rick Riordan universe. I've tried, as many of you have noticed, but I simply don't have the same love I used to have for this universe. It will always hold a special place in my heart because it's what inspired my writing in the first place. I love you guys so much. Many of you helped me keep my head outside the water during really hard times, and I'm forever grateful. I don't think you guys realize that you basically saved my life. Regardless, if anyone needs a friend or just to talk, please don't hesitate to message me. I love you all so much! With lots of love, Why I love... Raven So Raven was my role model as a little girl (weird to say since I'm technically older than her current iteration in Rebirth). I grew up watching the Teen Titans in Spanish as a little four-year-old girl. Though I didn't understand much, I adored it. When I grew old enough to understand it, I learned to really appreciate Raven. It simply amazed me that she was essentially fighting against her own destiny of turning evil and actively choosing to be a hero. It inspired me to prevail when I felt things were getting tough because if Raven could do it, I could too. Later in life, when I revisited my love for her, I began to read her origins in the comics. Admittedly, I began with BBRae because I really shipped them as a little kid. Therefore, I started reading the Teen Titans Volume 3 by Geoff Johns to explore more of their relationship. Later, I moved on to Titans Volume 2 by Winick, Churchhill, and Rapmund, which truly left me unsatisfied because Beast Boy and Raven were on and off with their relationship. So, I moved back to the second part of Teen Titans Volume 3 when Beast Boy joins back with the team and shortly after Raven. When they finally ended up an item, I was so happy. I looked for the continuation of the story and low and behold... Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Why? Because Barry Allen (The Flash) decided it'd be a good idea to travel back in time, save his mother, watch the horrifying ripple effect ensue, cause some outside force to reach in and remove ten years of the hero's life, and change the whole damn universe to arise the New 52 (which I'm glad turned into Rebirth because I was not a very big fan), essentially erasing Beast Boy and Raven's relationship. Yes, I'm still freaking salty about it. So, after realizing that, I just decided to just learn more about Raven herself. So I kept digging back... and back... and back... until I reached her first appearance in The New Teen Titans by Woolfman and Perez with their most famous Terror of Trigon storyline which is freaking AMAZING. Anyway, I learned so much more about Raven, and she ultimately remains my favorite superhero of all time. I'm currently reading Titans Rebirth (starting from #23 following after Teen Titans Rebirth #1-#19 and Justice League No Justice as the team shifted once the source wall broke and mayhem ensued) as she's currently featured in and Daughter of Darkness which focuses on Raven. Beast Boy/Changeling I enjoyed Beast Boy from the cartoon series as he was hilarious, plus I shipped him with Raven. However, I never really took him seriously... Until I learned about his backstory. So, I journeyed through his story in the order I did Raven since I started to read comics for the sole purpose of their relationship. Once I journeyed back, it was only until I read The Tales of the New Teen Titans Volume 1 #3 focusing on Gar that I grew to respect his character. I REALLY recommend you read this if you want to learn more about BB. I never realized his character was much more complex than he let on. Though the consistency of the character is that he's the goofball and the joker of the group, he's so much more than that. Gar went through some tough shit, and he continued to see the silver lining throughout his journey. This comic reads in such a way that he tells the Titans about his past like it wasn't so bad (also, poor guy keeps burning his hot dogs). He contracted a bad disease that turned him green and gave him his powers. He lost his parents to a boating accident in Africa, and he felt guilty about it for a really long time because he couldn't save them (he was a child, how was he supposed to save them?). He was taken in by a tribal king, though it really angered one of the tribe members who hired someone to kill him. The tribe member ended up dying, and the two hired individuals decided to exploit Gar's powers. Then, a guy who worked with his father previously (and did not like him), found Gar and took him in for his father's money. He met a girl named Jilian who was the first girl to see him for who he was. He was adopted by Rita Farr and Steve Dayton from the Doom Patrol (though Rita died) later on. He was an actor for a while where he was really abused by his director. He ended up fired after his old guardian attacked the set, and he was really lonely for a long time (though he played it off like he wasn't to the Titans which was the saddest part). Overall, he plays off all of the shit he went through like it was nothing by hiding it behind his smile and jokes, so it makes it extremely sadder. That's really what I love about his characters. He's also proved to be a leader several times and the heart of the team. Gar is just the best. Alternate Universe community for BBRae stories A Little Bit About Me My penname's Melissa C. because it's the first name I ever used on an online game (Toontown). I started fanfiction back in late 2013 because I was obsessed with Percy Jackson, and I couldn't get enough of Riordan's works. Then, I started actually writing in early 2014. Much to say, it revealed a passion for writing I didn't realize I had. A bunch of terrible fanfictions later and I'm here now, talking to whoever is reading this. I'm nowhere near a perfect writer, and I wouldn't even consider my work above a 6 in a 10 point scale, but I'm improving, and that's really all that matters to me. Fanfiction has given me a place to cultivate my skill, make year-long friends, and a way to cope with hard situations and feelings, and for that, I adore this place. I will always keep it near and dear to my heart because it's what ultimately kickstarted my writing career and what practically saved me from myself. So, to all my fanfiction readers, the staff, the community, to everything fanfiction related, I want to say THANK YOU for helping a desolate girl, who didn't believe she'd even make it to eighteen, find her voice in this priceless community. To all of you, I owe my life, and I will be forever grateful for that. With lots of love, |
