Chapter 25: A happy ending
Annabeth's POV
I don't know how. But midway the plan failed. Of course it was already doomed to fail. Apparently, one of the teacher's had been in the teacher's lounge restroom, and had caught Katie. She took her to the office, but luckily Hazel managed to grab the files without the teacher noticing. Unluckily, she had spotted Piper and told her to go back to class, leaving me alone. Good thing she hadn't seen me.
The teacher took Katie to the principal's office, and then left. The only choice I had was to enter alone. Hazel had been able to deliver the files to Jason, but I had no idea where the documents were, so I had to wait for someone instead of running across the school to the teacher's lounge.
I groaned and walked down the hallway waiting for someone to show up.
"What are you doing out here?" someone asked from behind me.
I turned around a little freaked out and spotted David, "Oh it's you... You startled me, you came out of nowhere."
He chuckled, "Sorry, I was in the restroom. But what are you doing here?"
"Nothing... Just, you know, hanging out..." I smiled nervously.
"Oh. Hey I was going to ask you something," he took a step closer.
Alarms blared in my mind but I ignored them, "Yeah?"
"Well... Since you broke up with Percy... I was wondering if-" he was interrupted by none other than Percy who looked at both of us with a confused expression.
"Interrupting anything?" he said with a harsh voice.
"Yes," David replied as I said 'no'.
I sighed, "David... I'll talk to you later? Me and Percy have to work on a project..."
"Yeah... Sure," he said, with hidden anger in his voice. He walked away and disappeared by the next hallway.
"Where's Piper?" I asked crossing my arms.
"She stayed with Jason to distract the teacher, she's really onto us. They told me to come over here since I know where they are," he replied.
"Alright. That's good enough, where are they?" I asked.
"Can I ask you something?" he asked.
I groaned, "No, now where are they?"
"Was David the one who told you about the lie?" he asked.
"No! Now Percy! Tell me where the are!" I exclaimed.
"If he did then let me warn you that he only told you to break us up," he continued.
"PERC-" I didn't finish as the Principal's office door opened up. Percy quickly dragged me to a corner before he could see us.
"Where are they!?" the principal screamed at Katie.
"They're over at the teacher's lounge..." she said.
The principal stomped away and Katie turned towards us with a small smile then mouthed go before she followed him.
"We don't have time to waste..." I muttered and ran inside the office. Percy followed then closed the door behind him.
"They're in the second drawer which is locked but luckily the key is hidden somewhere in here," he said as he started to look around the desk.
I searched around some of the drawers but I found nothing. I stopped for a second to think. What did the principal like? I looked around and spotted a big moose's head on the wall next to the door. "Hunting," I said and approached it.
On the mouth was a small shiny object and there was no doubt in my mind that was the hidden key. I smirked, and quickly grabbed it then ran towards the drawer. Percy turned towards me and noticed the key. He approached as well and leaned down to see what was inside the drawer.
As I opened it and looked through some of the files, there seemed to be a lot of newspapers of other schools the principal had probably worked in. All of them showed some kind of arrest that had happened. The worst part is that once I connected all of the pieces, the truth gave out a disgusting man behind the wig.
"No way... So this is why he came here," Percy said as he read one of the papers. I looked over it, and it explained that he had been banned from others states but never caught or given a restriction therefore he was able to join others schools as the principal.
"He's even worse than we thought..." I muttered and spotted a folder near the back. I reached in and grabbed it, only to find exactly what were were looking for. I smiled in success, "Got it. Come on, let's get out of here," I quickly replied.
"Wait... hold on," Percy said as he kept reading.
"Come on Percy, we have to leave!"
"Just one more second... We could actually send him to jail for this..." he muttered.
"Percy!"
It was too late by then. Outside I could hear, the principal's voice as he yelled at some students and his footsteps nearing the office. The door knob slowly turned and he walked in. He looked at us both straight in the eyes. Katie, Travis and Connor were behind him looking nervous.
He walked towards us, "What are you two doing in here?" he demanded.
I bit my lip and we both quickly stood up.
"Never mind, don't answer this. I have enough proof to expel you from the school," he said and approached his desk. "Stay there." He grabbed his phone and started calling the counselor to his office."
"This is all your fault..." I murmured.
"Mine? You're the one who started looking through everything when we only needed that stupid paper," Percy whispered back.
"You're the one who wasted our time after we had everything we needed," I said louder.
He turned towards me and looked at me with pure anger, "If you're going to blame me on everything then I don't get why you even dare to talk to me!"
"I blame you because you're the one at fault!" I exclaimed.
"You're the one who is supposed to be the smart one with things but all you do is blame it on everyone who makes a simple mistake!"
"Well that's because they give you a big lie and expect you to forgive them in the end when they had all the time in the world to tell you!"
"I was afraid that you wouldn't be able to forgive me! Exactly what happened anyways!"
By then I couldn't resist the anger, and the pain he had caused me. We threw down insults as the principal tried to shut us up but really, we didn't listen to him. For us, we were the only ones in the room.
"Jerk!" I took a step forward in temptation.
"Bitch!" he took another.
"Kelp head!" And another.
"Smarty pants!" Then another. By then our faces were just a few centimeters from each other.
"Seaweed brain!" I felt my eyes stain.
"Wise girl!"
I couldn't resist it anymore. At the same second we both leaned in into a big kiss. By then, nothing else mattered. I didn't care, I was just glad to have his lips against mine. It was, like other's would call it, magic.
Nothing was able to separate us. I could hear the principal's screams but I ignored it. His lips tasted as seaweed just as I remembered. I put my hand over his soft hair, and all I could smell at that moment was the sea. It felt like our first kiss again. In that moment I forgave him for everything he had done. I didn't care about the lie anymore, all I cared about was us.
We pulled away after what seemed like an eternity and I looked at him in the eyes. He looked at me back. I had my hands around his neck and he had his around my waist. We both smiled and then started to laugh hysterically. I wasn't sure why we were laughing but I just felt like I had to relieve everything.
"You two. GET OUT OF MY SCHOOL THIS INSTANT," the principal exclaimed.
Out of nowhere, Thalia walked into the office with two officer's behind her and a smirk, "This isn't your school. And I brought two little friends to arrest you."
The principal cleared this throat and stood up straight, "Umm hello, how may I help you? I'm sorry, just two troubled students..."
"You're Riley Kronos?" one of the officer's questioned.
"Yes? What do you need?" the principal asked politely.
"We're here for many complaints of unfair treating, and illegal changes for the school," the second one said.
I grabbed the file I had apparently dropped while my kiss with Percy and handed it to them. They took a minute to look through it and then one of the them grabbed their handcuffs. "Mr. Kronos, you're going to have to come with us to the station."
"What!? But this isn't fair! I haven't done anything wrong!" he exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, but you're going to have to talk to the judge about that," he said as he put the handcuffs on him and started walking out. I could hear him yelling at them while they walked.
For a few seconds, everyone was silent. Then we all started laughing for a good five minutes.
Thalia smirked, "Well? Did I do good?"
"You did great!" I smiled and gave her a hug.
"Wow, you guys had quite a make up session, didn't ya'll?" Katie laughed as she entered.
Percy and I got a little red.
"Aww man, and when are we going to make up?" Travis groaned.
Katie rolled her eyes, "Travis we were never together..."
"In my fantasies we have," he smirked.
"God, you guys get a room!" Percy exclaimed.
"Look who's talking," Connor added with a grin.
He only rolled his eyes while Travis and Katie continued to argue. I slipped my hands into Percy's and looked at him with a smile, "I'm sorry..."
"I'm sorry too, we made a mistake," he smiled back.
"I shouldn't have listening to David, even if what he said was true, he obviously did it to break us up," I replied.
"Don't worry about him," Percy said and planted a kiss in my forehead.
"Gods, you lovebirds have to get a room too, now come on, we have to tell the others," said Thalia.
We both smiled and followed her outside the school. It seemed like all the students had gone out to watch the principal's arrest. Even some of the teacher's looked amused. Some of the parents were also outside talking to the teacher's.
As Percy and I walked out with our hands together our friends smiled knowing the change again. Rachel handed me the baby basket with a smirk, "And we're back to the lovey dovey couple, aren't we?"
I chuckled and grabbed it.
"ANNABETH!" Bianca tackled me with a hug.
I laughed, "Hey Bianca. I'm sorry for screaming at you last time."
"Don't worry about it, everyone makes mistakes, I did too, so you had all the rights," she smiled.
"Hey Annabeth..." someone called me from the side. I turned to see David walking towards me.
Percy frowned at him, he was about to step forward when I stopped him, "I got it."
I approached and smiled, "What do you need?"
"Well... I was wondering if you wanted to go out sometimes," he said.
I smiled a little wider, "Sure." He smiled back and I used my knee to hit him in between the legs. He crunched down in pain. "In your dreams."
I walked back to Percy who was trying not to laugh, "That's my girl," he said as he gave me another hug.
Suddenly, a helicopter that had been flying over the school for some time started to descend. "Who's that?" Thalia questioned.
"Not sure," I muttered.
As the helicopter was completely down, the door opened and a woman with black hair exited. For some reason, the logo looking very familiar. It was a huge AE. "Athena Enterprise..." I muttered.
The name, it stung back. The papers. The woman approached looking through the crowd. As her eyes approached me, I felt nervous hoping that she wouldn't see me. She made eye contact and I instantly noticed her grey eyes. She smiled and ran towards me. I walked forwards slowly. She stopped a few feet from me and then tackled me with a hug.
"Mom..?" I asked.
"Annabeth," she said with a British accent.
"Why... Why are you here? Y-you left me..." I stuttered.
"I didn't. It was all a misunderstanding. They separated you from me at birth. I had no power to do anything. I been looking for you for years but just recently I found you here! And I instantly cancelled all my meetings to come here. I had to see you," she smiled and stroke my hair. "My daughter."
"But... dad said that you left me..." I muttered.
"He lied. He was the one who separated you from me in the first place. He thought I was going to be a bad mother, I don't blame him. I was very confused before I had you, I made some mistakes, but once I held you for the first time, I gave up on all of them. I was going to care for you, but I didn't even had the chance. I'm sorry..."
I felt tears stain my eyes and hugged her tightly. "T-Thank you... For coming..."
She smiled, "I wasn't going to leave my chance of meeting you."
I opened my eyes, and I could see Poseidon talking to Percy also signaling to me from the far distance. Percy turned and gave me a smile then turned to his father and gave him a hug. I knew what he had meant.
"Mom... How did you know I was here?" I asked.
"I got an email from a throw away user telling me you were in this school, I thought it was a joke until I gave it a little investigation."
"Oh..." I smiled.
"But that doesn't matter, why don't we go head and go visit a coffee shop to catch up?" she asked.
I pulled away and gave her another smile, "Of course."
As I walked away I looked back at my friends to say goodbye. They waved, and I could see Silena writing something of her famous couples journal. She looked up and smirked then wrote something on a paper and held it up. I made out the words Tratie is next, and I gave a chuckle. Well at least she had yet again reunited a couple. Oh, Silena.
